    Websites are starting to go crazy with huge graphics on the home page. NBA.com is a good example of this.

    Personally, I think the fad will be over by the end of the year, and it seems to be limited to sites not reliant on the search engines for home page traffic. But maybe I just want to get to the content.

      Hey Brian,

      I disagree. I think it's a trend, not a fad, fueled by people having faster connections, as well as the old adage that "a picture is worth 1000 words".

      When I first started designing web pages in 1996, the goal was to have a header graphic that was 10k or less. This is laughable now with the increased bandwidth the majority of netizens have.
