A few Newbie questions - Squeeze page/thankyou page/first email

Hi,

I am completely new to the Internet Marketing scene and have already spent a bit of money on a few WSO's mainly to help increase my knowledge on the matter but also so I can start making some money. I have decided to start be setting up a squeeze page to help build my list. That is all it is, a squeeze page, not a website.

So far, I have done the following:

1. I have a domain name
2. I have hosting
3. I have an autoresponder
4. I have wordpress installed
5. I have a purchased lead rocket and installed it.
6. I understand how to make an opt-in page.
7. I have digital products available to offer people for free so I that I can start growing my list.
8. I have a some ideas in place on where to promote these so I can start to grow my list.

These are the problems I have come across:

A. If I offer a free product using a squeeze page and the person subscribes, how is the best way to get the product sent to them along with a message thanking them for subscribing and also informing them a bit about what they can expect from me in the future? Is there a way to set this up so it is automatic?

B. How can I edit my autoresponder (aweber) thank you page so it fits in better with the look of my squeeze page?

C. How can I make sure that all correspondence received by my subscribers comes from my email account that I set up with my hosting and domain (arvixe)? I want it to look more professional than coming from a hotmail account.

If anyone can help with a little bit of advice or even a few links to where I can read up and learn about this then that would be great.

I feel I am almost ready to get started and I'm excited by the prospect but I want this to be as right as it realistically can be before I do!

Many Thanks,

Dan.

Hey there, congrats on your success,

A: So, if you are using double optin squeeze funnel (double optin is when people subscribe, they must confirm their email, before they can access the content on your thank you page), after they confirm they will be automatically redirected to your thank you page where you will have link to your product. This is the most used technique from marketers to deliver their freebie to their subscribers.

B: You can't edit much the look of the default thank you page of aweber, but you can set a custom one to be used instead of the default one. Here are some How To videos on this topic: How To Videos and Walkthroughs

EDIT: C: I haven't seen this point . So you have the ability to set a custom email address that will be shown to your subscribers. Check the videos from above for more info

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask them

The answer to "A" is that when you configure your autoresponder, there will be a "Thank you page URL". Enter in the page URL where you want to discuss that stuff with them.

When people Opt-In, they will be automatically dropped on that page. They won't stay on your squeeze page.

I usually like to put this code at the top of that page so they just can't access it by Googling (because you want them to opt-in):
    Code:
    <meta name="robots" content="noindex, nofollow" />

    My suggestions:

    A. If I offer a free product using a squeeze page and the person subscribes, how is the best way to get the product sent to them along with a message thanking them for subscribing and also informing them a bit about what they can expect from me in the future? Is there a way to set this up so it is automatic?

The best place will be your 1st follow up message sent immediately after your visitors opt-in. You can write a welcome/thank you message together with the download link.

    B. How can I edit my autoresponder (aweber) thank you page so it fits in better with the look of my squeeze page?

You can use the HTML follow-up message format.
You will need some HTML skills to add your desire look.
Alternatively, you can use the templates provided.

Hope this help. All the best.

    Shawn

It's better not to send them the free product by email at all - send them a download link for it, instead. This means you need to have it available somewhere on a page from which people can download it (can be on your own site, but it doesn't have to be), but it also means you'll avoid sending huge emails, missing some people's in-boxes with it because of the attachment, and some other potential problems, too.

      Good luck!

    Hello,

You made very good decision starting to build the list !

    A. Yes, you can send free gift to subscriber email,in this way subscriber must write his "working" email in order to get free gift. Also you can create simple download page and insert link to free gift for downloading. For sending automatic email - in aWeber there is section called Messages - follow up and then create message which will automaticly will be sent to subscriber after they optin. If you want to redirect people to download page , in web form section there is option to redirect not to thank you page ,but to whatever you want ,in this scenario to your created download page.

    B. You can create similar thank you page as your squeeze page and redirect to that page. Then you create or edit web form in aWeber , in setting meniu you will see option to do what.

If you need any help,I can personaly help you, just pm me or write email

      Wow!

Thank you for such quick and informative responses!

Having been going at all day trying to set this up it is great to get this advice

It has been quite a tough day being new to it all and also spending money on some things that, at this stage, I do not even understand fully.

BUT, I will not give up!!

      Thanks again,

      Dan.

Which do you guys think is best?

        1. Send the free download link by email.

        2. Have the download link on your thank you page after they opt in. I am worried that doing it this way would take attention away from the OTO on the thank you page.

But I have been having problem with get response taking an hour sometimes to deliver the first message.

          I always do this.

I don't do this, because I have other things to put on the thank you page, to help to maximize my open-rates, ensure that they receive my emails correctly, and so on.

I never have an OTO on the thank you page. I'd hate to come across, the second they've opted in, as "just another marketer" after all - that would completely ruin my longer-term prospects. Yes, I might make the occasional sale out of it, but it's terribly short-term thinking, to me, because (a) that would be a sale I'd otherwise be making very soon anyway, so it's not really a "gain", and (b) it would disappoint and alienate so many subscribers to be hit with an immediate promotion that it might destroy the credibility and trust I'm striving to develop, as the long-term purpose of my list-building.

          Just my perspective.

That does sound like a problem. I'm very surprised. Have you discussed it with them?

            And what would that be?

Right now, I'm thinking about saying from who is the email coming and the subject (of the welcome email which has the download link) and that if they don't find it in their inbox, it might be in spam. But here's the problem: I want to tell them to unmark the email as spam, but different ESP have different ways of doing it, and there are many of them. Do you just address the main ones (Yahoo!, GMail, etc.)?

And what else could go there to increase open-rates? A pic of a naked girl?

Make it crystal clear on the thank you page...
              • That you aim to email them every 'X' days
              • What sort of things are going to be in the emails.
              • What email address it will come from and what to look out for (many marketers like to start their email headlines with a prefixed suffix like for example 'WF' if it was an email coming from Warrior Forum) so that you instantly know when you spot the email it was once you were expecting and who it's from.
              • Who you are and why they should open your emails.
              • Be open and honest that you'll send them product recommendations.
              • How to mark your email as 'safe' or 'white listed'.

Set up squeeze page. Sign up for Aweber. Put Aweber sign up box into the html code and update squeeze page. Create thank you page. Have users taken to the thank you page after clicking "sign up." Have thank you page clearly explained what just happened, what happens next, and what if anything they should be doing next. Tell them they will have a confirmation email in their inbox confirming their interest for privacy issues. Now, they go to their inbox, click the confirmation link, which you set up in Aweber to take them to your download page. Create a download page, have a clickable link and a description of how to download for those who aren't great with computers. So their clicking process is squeeze page, sign up, thank you page, email confirmation, download page, download link.

Some people will read. Some people won't. It's better to include it than not.
