My refund rate on clickbank is quite high (HELP)

Do you by any chance sell make money online products?

"Make Money" is very tricky niche. Just to split test, try couple of different products with higher gravity in the same niche.

I'm assuming that you are asking as an affiliate which products
to promote? Then the answer is any product outside of the
money making niche. That niche is notorious for high refund
rates--I guess the buyers are trying to make more money
by not spending money on their make money purchases.

(That paragraph should rank high for "make money")

I switched one of my products from Clickbank to just
PayPal payments and refund rates dropped precipitously.

You could contact potential merchants prior to advertising their products and ask them what their refund percentage is for their affiliates. Not everyone in the IM/MMO niche are extremely high.

I launched my eCommerce training course on Clickbank about 3 months ago and I was scared about refunds based on what everything says about Clickbank + IM/MMO products but mine consistently hovers between 4 - 5 %. I think what helps is that I offer a 7 day trial so if anyone doesn't think the product is for them they can simply cancel prior to the rebill.

I would suggest moving away from clickbank if you are looking to carry on promoting make money online products or move away from that niche if you want to stay with clickbank.

Personally I would suggest the latter. Outside the MMO niche there is a much easier market to sell to. They are generally unaware of the sales tactics that we all use to sell products online. Be it email marketing, reviewing products with affiliate links or automated webinars. People inside the MMO niche are very jaded by all of these and know exactly what is happening. Outside of this niche it is much easier to sell to people and the refund rates are MUCH lower.

I know someone that has a product in the hypnosis niche and they get 80% open rates and 60% click rates on ALL of their emails! I don't know of anyone inside our tiny niche that sees stats like that anymore. Not with any consistency anyway!

Personally, before i promote any clickbank product, i will look at its gravity first. Is it a uphill or downhill product.

You can use cbengine to search for products you may be interested to promote and get all its data before you select one.

You may also like to look at CPA where similar to Affiliate programs you get a cut if they either fill up a form or make a sale. But even if they decide to ask for a refund, you still keep your payout.

yea a lot of those products are full of hype. The vendors have multiple accounts not just with Clickbank but with other sites like clickbank. You're risking your account selling their stuff...

I would focus on selling products that actually help people. I haven't sold a MMO product in over a year. There's so much more to promote on Clickbank..

I remember the first MMO product I bought from a guy name Jamie ______. I logged in and basically he was teaching you how to build your name up on forums and post comments on websites to make money from people clicking your link/signature. Problem was many forums are hip to this...

Plus I didn't feel like putting that much effort forward to sell someone else's product.

What happens when you get some skin in the game is you figure out that 9 times out of 10, the numbers they show in the sales videos that get you interested, are from them selling that actual product you just bought.

They're just selling results basically...

I say reevaluate your goals. Don't build your business around teaching people how to make money because the majority of the people who buy those products are lazy tire kickers who want the OLYMPIC gold without running in the competition.

Once they log in and see how much work it's going to take, they all of a sudden remember they have 60 days to get a full refund, no questions asked...

I agree with everything the posters above me have said. With Clickbanks happy refund policy it's very easy to get a refund and keep the product which is why I usually recommend not to promote MMO on Clickbank for these very reasons.

I'd say that doing the research on the best selling products in the Clickbank niche and seeing the customer comments is probably the key.

One rule: Cheaper is not always better.

What I mean is this: If a ClickBank product is cheap and the affiliate is being offered a big commission for sales, there is probably a reason. And if the sales seem low, that probably means the word is out that the product isn't great. Thus, the high refund request rate.

Truthfully, good products are tough to find...take a smaller commission and find a product that over-delivers and you will probably do better in the long run.

just curious, how high is it? been my experience that mmo products have a significantly higher refund rate than products in other niches, and even more so if they're on clickbank

Personally, I use cbengine.com to check the refund rate but you need to subscribe as a pro member in order to see it ( I can't remember. it seem to be a one time fee). As someone said, not all MMO products in clickbank has high refund rate. However, I did see a product in clickbank had a refund rate of 97%. Can you believe it? :-)

That niche like others have said and promoting click bank products can be a difficult task. Clickbank can be very profitable in certain niches....keep split testing until you find the right balance between niche and product....
