HELP: How do I monetize this giant list?

So, here's the short version ...

One of my clients has a telemarketing call center. I help them buy a LOT of leads from various partners (mostly co-registration on major sites).

All my client currently does is tele-market to the people that have opted in.

But here's the thing ... when we buy the leads from our list partners, we are also buying the email address. Our terms state that we may call them or email them, but we're not doing any email.

I don't need any help monetizing the phone numbers, but I do need help monetizing them through email.

Most of the email companies (aweber, getresponse, infusionsoft, etc.) say I can't upload co-registration leads and I don't want to violate their terms ... that just leads to getting shut down.

Anyone have any ideas? I just know I'm leaving giant piles of money on the table, because these people are super-qualified for biz-op, career, and make-money-online type offers.

Thanks!

AS I recall, Imnicamail.com will allow you to use them if you have the date they opted in and the IP. Imnica Mail - Email Marketing Service - Email Marketing Solved

Sorry, but, we do not allow purchased lists, regardless of what data you may have.

Thanks for chiming in Richelo. Any recommendations for vendors I could work with?

For purchased lists, your best bet would be your own server, and slow initial contact. No way you're just going to blast the whole list.

Start by sending only to 1000 for a couple of days, and then add 1000 per day for a couple of weeks.

I'm not aware of any vendor who specifically allows purchased lists.

Given what you are spending to obtain the list, I would use a few different dedicated servers from different providers. Start slow on each server (as he described above), using differing names as the sender to protect from spam filters.

Your initial email campaign should then focus on offers that will drive them to sign up for an Aweber (or other providers) list.

This process will help to insure longer term deliverability for the leads actually opening and responding to your offers, and let you better segment your lists.

Think this is your best bet. Be careful though it will be tough to get a high deliverability at first. Also, I'm pretty sure getresponse also accepts co-reg leads.

Hey, I know some places you can go for coreg emailing but they would not appreciate having their info public on Warrior Forum. Sig if you want to know.

You can set up email marketing software like arpReach on your own server.

Possibly, but we're talking about a bunch of people ... yesterday, we added 17,000 to the list.

I'm worried that if I just start up a new account somewhere and send a welcome email to 17,000 people, they will freak out and block my account because of my volume. And, if that were to happen on the hosting account, it would be crippling ... we've got well over 100 employees, so this isn't something I can just walk away from.

Take it up with your hosting provider beforehand.

I agree, arpreach should do the trick

Hmm, another vote for arpReach ... how does it compare to Interspire Email Marketer (which I've used in the past)? Better? About the same?

I'm just worried about needing to really manage an email server and learn a ton about deliverability and all the hoops you have to jump through.

I'd really rather just partner with someone that knows what they are doing ... I bring the list (which we're paying over $500,000 to acquire each month), they bring the smarts and we divvy up the profits.

Thoughts on where to find someone like that?

Talking about monetizing the list (which is what you asked), the first thing you need to do is engage the list pretty hard. What I mean by this is you have to do something really good for them. Shoot a video, real personal, and just talk to them and give GREAT content away.

Once you start engaging them monetization will become easier. I doubt you were thinking of just blasting clickbank offers right from day 1 but if you were, don't.

At MMF in 2010, Kern gave a great example of how he did this with Tony Robbins list. TR basically had a list of 100K or so that he never mailed at all. They put together a short sequence of videos that first engaged the list by giving really good free content (3 videos I believe) then the fourth video gave a $299 course for $27 (shipping/handling...keep it I'll bill, hate it I won't).

Supposedly the campaign brought in 7 figures in 4 days but who knows. But I'd probably follow a similar path.

Yeah, I'd say you are leaving a goldmine on the table. It's true about email companies, not allowing purchased lists, so that means you'll have to do a "double opt-in" for your list.
I found a "stealth" way of importing names, into your gmail account and segmenting them into groups. As you email one contact, and CC: your group, the primary contact, will not see other group email addresses. Look, it's been a long time, since I did it, but did watch it on youtube. Search for "Importing email in contact groups" or "sending group emails thru gmail".

You have to get them to opt-in to a list managed by an autoresponder, so you can send them more offers. Some experts say, each email is worth $1-$50 per month, depending on the offers. Get an intern to contact them through email, if you have too. It's worth it in the long run.

You can consider getting a dedicated hosting server and install your own autoresponder script. Thus you will be able to import all the list and start emailing them. But before you email them, you want to check to make sure that the list is real and it will not classified as spam when you send email to them.
