Do you think this would sell?

Hey Warriors,

Thinking about my next software creation and wanted to get some of your thoughts.

I'm thinking of creating a software that gets people to take action. A type of motivator/checklist type of software with an option to set timers on the checklist with options to set rewards as well. A type of motivator software that will have actionable steps and timers for each project where deadlines and reminders can be set.

I thought about it when it struck me that most people fail because they don't take action.

Do you think there is a market for this?
Let me get your thoughts warriors!

I wouldn't buy it but you should wait for more comments, I'm not everyone! I feel like what you are talking about is what people get when they pay for a real one on one coach or mentor. There really is no substitute for that.

Thanks for the feedback Matt, I know some people use things like egg timer to push them to complete task that's one of the things that inspired me to think towards this line let me know your thoughts guys!

Hmm...it might be good on its own, but it would probably be better with a full ebook package.

      what you meant?

If it spat out a piece of candy for being on time.. YES!!

It sounds pretty interesting, and time management is
something people do spend money on.. I'd say give it
    a go and see.

thanks for the feedback Victor perhaps I can't make it spit out
candy but the rewards will be whatever the user sets (e.g. if I finish creating this PDF i get to go to the movies tonight ) something towards that line.

Seeing those other comments leads me to think you
could use this with coaching as well.. just put in place a
set of tasks & deliver it to your students to keep them
actively working. Whenever they have questions...
there you are to save the day.

Oh yes for sure that will come in handy but what about
those marketers who may not require coaching but
still find it hard to stay motivated would this help?

I think it will form a new habit of taking action i'm not sure about you but
when I have a task in mind and I use the egg timer It feels like there is an internal clock within myself to finish the task quickly and not distract myself. I'm hoping this would create the same sort of urgency. !

There is without a doubt a huge market for this. I am not even sure where to start...

Mindset is one area that many people need to master in order to take repeated, positive action. If the software can build in the ability to hone your mindset, you will have helped marry mindset and action.

I feel gamification is one popular method to promote action, but it is hardly the only method.

Above all, though, the software must be incredibly simple and easy to use.

Yes, definately if I do decide to create this ease of use will surely be a must. thanks for the feedback !

I was just in another thread where someone mentioned
living alone and he was looking for someone to help him
stay accountable. There's definitely people who could
    benefit from it.

Plus, you could have a lot of fun & features incorporated
like an internet high five(don't hit the monitor) to an internet
scolding for missing deadlines, lol. You could even setup
with twillio to send text reminders about deadlines.

I think the concept is nice, but people will have to be motivated to use it.

I don't see myself paying for something I know I won't get around to using. It would be better if you could find some external motivation.

Here is an idea, instead of a product, create a hosted service that can be accessed by members paying recurring dues. The people who use it properly and productively will earn real rewards (obviously you would want to figure out how to discourage people gaming the system).

Then you also have monthly revenue coming in and you are building a community that will be receptive to your next brilliant idea.

"seems like a paradox people have to get motivated for using a motivation software"

Your Idea is worth a thought though, would have to figure out how to prevent gaming the system and what kind of rewards I could offer. Interesting

Yes, the creator was selling the rights to his software so you see a lot of them out there with different names.

That shouldn't stop you from doing your own though...

I have no clue, but I can tell you, if you're looking to sell that type of software to *THIS* crowd, you may be disappointed.

Keep in mind also that the other software was released when their weren't many free web based productivity tools or browser apps available.

So you will also be in competition with all of those free tools.

If you can get it developed on the cheap, go for it, but giving it away may be your best bet.

I think it's a good idea. But instead of selling the software, you could offer it for free and then sell an ebook or course on how to improve productivity and time management skills. Get the software to show them somehow that they need to improve this area of their business and then offer your coaching as a solution.

I am in the niche and it can be tough. Lots of free advice and resources like the pomodoro technique and simpleology Also lots of people hopping from thing to thing. Many of these people of they so buy something don't use it long enough and hop to something else. I have sold ebooks and constantly reach out personally to people to ask how it is going and they never read the ebook not did they take the advice and put it to use.

yea for sure a lot of people don't take action its a major problem in
the IM world, something that if we can help with as IMers would help
other people finally start to see the success they have been looking for.

Give it away in exchange for an optin. Maybe have an OTO for a brandable version they can give away to build their list. (Brandable optin box etc). That's what I do for some of my stuff.

      Hi Saba,
thanks for the feedback yea if it does cost a lot to develop
then I will probably charge a small access fee for the software but
I haven't decided yet whether to create or not to create we shall see.
so far getting some really good feedback though.

no i don't create apps yet at the moment but maybe will

depends on your target market. If you are looking to sell it on here, thendon't do it.

However, if you do have a good target market that is really into this sort of stuff, then go for it.

You probably should look at customizing it for target demographics rather than a general take action market.

EG: weight loss, stop smoking, de cluttering etc. Budgeting software for example.
