wanna know how to get affiliates? Read This

The time to start thinking about getting affiliates is before your product is finished and ready to go. You're not going to approach anyone to be an affiliate until it's done, but you are going to start networking and building relationships with others who would be a good fit for promoting your product.

Before you can work on the relationships though, you first need to identify other marketers that you might want to have promote your product. Look for websites and blogs that have good traffic in your niche. Check that they have an opt-in box somewhere on their site so you know they have a subscriber list.

Another route is going to ClickBank and finding popular products in your niche. Get on their opt-in list and start reading their newsletters and following them so you know what their business is all about.

There are several ways you can go about building relationships before you approach someone requesting they become an affiliate:
  • Build yourself up as an expert by making valuable posts on your niche's forums.
  • Comment on forum and blog posts of the marketers you are targeting so they get familiar with your name and what you've got going on.
  • Don't be afraid to PM people to discuss points they made. Offer your personal email address if your PM discussion is getting lengthy.
  • Send a question to a website or blog owner asking for some brief advice. Point out that you respect their opinion.
When your product is done, it's time to send out your emails requesting affiliates. Do not mass send these; you need to make each one personal.

1. Compliment them in a way that shows them you have been following them - mention your thoughts about a couple of their blog posts, or that you've been following their progress with their xyz product on the abc forum, or how much you liked that specific helpful hint from their newsletter.

2. Ask what you want to ask and be brief. They haven't got all day and you don't want to beat around the bush. Also explain what's in it for them. Give them the link to your affiliates page with all the goodies like emails, text links, ads, product reviews, articles, and keywords. You want to make this as easy as possible for the person to become your affiliate.

3. Give them a link to the product (yes, free) you're asking them to promote for their personal review. Put the link in this first email so they're not forced to email you back, and then you email them back....

4. Put all your contact details in your email - email address, Skype, IM, Twitter, FaceBook, phone number, etc.

5. Add some quick facts about yourself, business-wise, by listing your other businesses with URLs under your signature.

Keep a spreadsheet consisting of who you emailed, their contact info, where you know them from, when you sent the 1st email, what the response was, etc. Otherwise it can get confusing.
Not everyone will even bother to reply, but the ones that do could be gold. They took the time to look over your product and answer your email and that shows they are somewhat committed.

Just as with anything internet marketing related, you need to plan out which marketers you will approach, how you will approach them, and the results of your contact. Keep at it and you will find yourself with some successful affiliate marketers onboard.
