Video Course Creation Question

This is a simple question but I think it could be really important. I've asked a couple of trusted friends who do this kind of thing all the time and I got mixed answers.

I'm in the process of shooting a video course (about 12 hours) and I already have 10 hours done. I gave it to a pretty big name in the industry to look it over. He called me up and said "You don't mention the name of the course during the videos at all".

So I called a few other friends and some do it, some don't.

So the question is, do you think it's a big deal if the product name doesn't get mentioned in the actual videos themselves?

The videos are watermarked and the content will be on Kajabi. It is also being sold as a home study course.

I just don't really get why mentioning the name in the videos would be important if they are either logging into a membership site with the name all over the site or watching it on DVD in their house.

Thanks guys.

Edit - I REALLY don't want to reshoot 10 hours of video but I'm also not going to make a major mistake if it can be avoided.

    Hi

It is important for branding. I don't think it's worth a 10 hour reshoot fix.

But you can add it during editing.

For example, you may transition from live shooting to slide images showing details from the on screen discussion, you can add it with voice over at that time.

You can add an 'Intro" to each video that does it as it introduces the other produced content.

You can add a conclusion, summary talking head or voice over at the end of each lesson and do it then.

It depends how important building your brand.

If you mention your brand in the actual shoot and not in voice over after, then they know it's you and not a hired or white label video that you added voice over and branding to.

If it's watermarked then that's fine. Referencing your name/brand/product name during the course is a good way to keep the pirates away. You'd be surprised how many data miners will try re-editing and then repackaging your work with the intent of pawning it off as their own. ie. peeps at Black Hat World ::coughs::

Good on ya for producing yourself. Way to go =)

Almost all of it is direct to camera so they'll steal it but it would be really hard for them to try to sell it as their own. Plus it's not really an IM thing so I'm not even sure they'll go after it.

If it were slides I'd be worried a little but direct to camera is hard to steal, repackage and resell I would think. But then again, I really don't know.
