Google+ for business and registering yourself

I am thinking of registering myself on Google+ and selling its services as part of my consultancy/Internet marketing.

On the sign up it needs your name. I am uncomfortable putting names on things like this; but at the same time know the value of leverage and authority that this gives you.

Do you guys use Google+ and how do you approach entering in names issue?

Thanks

Real names for sure, real profile pics, real information.

You can then create a business page with your business on it.

Exactly! You can create your profile with your real identity; by doing so you can easily earn trust from viewers. And then you can proceed with generating business pages containing details of your domain. Add company logo and related images if you want on those pages.

Why would you be uncomfortable putting a name to something unless you intend to abuse it? You want to be a consultant, don't you think having your actual name will mean something when you show perspective clients.

You create your G+ account using your real name and details, and then set privacy to you only (if memory serves me correct). If the option doesn't exist then it's no problem as you never have to set a profile pic or post anything. From your page you can then create a business page (like Facebook fan pages). Aside from being maintained by the account holder the two are not connected. On the business page you have all of your full business details (address / phone numbers etc) and that's your business home. You provide us much or as little details as you feel comfortable with. Google will send you in the post a pin number which you have to enter to prove you are authorised to setup the business page. The only downside is that you will have a G+ account in your name, although I think you can disable people from finding you. Of course if you are really against it then use an assumed name (not sure if that might be in breech of Google's T&C's).

    Hope that helps.

I use it and I love it. If someone is associated with you through Google + and they Google something even if you don't rank for the keyword you will pop up on the 1st page or second page just because they are in your network. Also Google +ing your own links(adding links to your site) is great for SEO overall.

REAL business name is required and it MUST be the actual registered name, can't just make one up or add keywords or city.

The #1 reason listings get suspended is for not using the real or correct business name.

I work directly with Google Local and help consultants all over the world offer this service. So I just want to stress that before you think about offering the service you need to read the guidelines and study for at least a couple months. Google local is very complicated and there are tons of unwritten rules.

Here are the guidelines: Google Places quality guidelines - Places for business Help but again Google does not spell everything out because that would just educate the spammers, so you need to learn all the subtle unwritten rules that can get you in trouble so you don't end up getting a client suspended, rejected, pending review or put in Google Places purgatory.

Hope this helps and best of luck!
