Numbers: Global Monthly Searches, Approximate CPC (Search) etc.

Guys,

I have a few niches in mind for a few websites, but want to make sure they are profitable and have low competition. I also want to rank highly in the search engines with the keywords.

I'm now at this stage of setting up a niche website, using google keywords tool

So, I wondered if anyone could please advise me on how many global monthly searches ( I'm from The UK but was choosing the US, plan on securing .com) and CPC amount ( I plan to use adsense to bump up income ).

Thanks in advance for any comments, criticism and advice.

P.S would this be acceptable for a niche?

Competition, Global Monthly Searches, Local Monthly Searches, Approximate CPC (Search)

    Low, 480, 260, £2.47

Unfortunately numbers don't mean a lot without knowing the niche (For obvious reasons don't say). For example, if you have 500 people searching for luxury helicopter tours around new york, then 500 people would be a lot and possible highly profitable. Then again, it could just be 500 people on a phrase which doesn't make much sense so it may not be profitable. Only way of finding out is by diving in (Like i told you before) and just try it!

To work out whether it would be acceptable to YOU you should work out on average what traffic you believe you'll be able to get per month, how many of those you can convert into sales and how much money you'll make from each sale. That will give you your answer as to whether it's acceptable or not.

Generally the rule that gets thrown around is if you hit #1 spot on Google for your keyword you'll get 40% of the monthly exact traffic (though it's getting less and less in some searches because of more ads displayed by Google), and if you have a well set up website and persuasive copy your offer will convert anywhere between 1-3%.

I'll leave the rest up to you.

Why 'dive right in' when you can follow my advice and do some simple sums to get an idea if whether it might be profitable first. It's not going to be exact but it'll at least give you a guide. No point in jumping in head first without doing proper research first.

Thanks for the great advice about ranking #1 on google, but surley i need a good keyword to do this?

I wanted to know if people had formulas they use so to speak, on choosing a keyword rich domain and niche?

How can I predict how much traffic I will receive?
