Need Help With Split-testing and Tracking

Hi all, I've posted this last night and subscribed to it but I think somebody's deleted the thread as I couldn't find my thread. Not sure why as I think these are valid questions. So I'm posting here again and I would like to hear your feedback on how I can achieve these objectives.

I'm trying to set up 2 squeeze pages to test against each other. I'm not sure if I'm doing this correctly. I hope you can correct me if I'm wrong..

So here goes:

Set up 2 squeeze pages
Use a rotator link (using hypertracker etc) to split the traffic sent to these 2 squeeze pages
Check the stats to see which is more effective and do more tests

Questions:

Do I need to set up 2 different webforms?
Do I need to set up 2 different sets of autoresponder sequence?

If I send traffic from multiple sources at the same time, how do I track which source sent me the best converting traffic?

Is it possible to do split testing of squeeze pages and check which traffic source is sending the best form of traffic at the same time? If yes, please explain what is the best way to do this?

I guess that's it. Hope to hear some feedback from fellow warriors. Thanks in advance.

Lydia

The platform you're using to split the traffic should also be tracking your conversions (form submissions or whatever your goal is) and telling you which variation produced more. Once you have a statistically significant amount of data, you can decide if one landing page was better than the other and get rid of the worse performer.

If your conversion goal is further down the chain than the form submission -- you're tracking purchases from a followup e-mail for example -- then you wouldn't want to have multiple forms or autoresponders at the same time as you're testing the multiple landing pages. That's a multivariate test and it's very unlikely you have the tools or the traffic required to do that effectively right now.

Stick to only having one difference between the two funnels (the two different landing pages) or you won't be able to identify which of the differences is responsible for any change in conversion rate.

Check out Google Experiments, it will allow you to send traffic to your main URL and will automatically switch LP for each visit and track what the visitors do

Google experiments is really simple. My suggestion is to start there. It will automatically track which page does better.

I agree with the others - Google Experiments. It's free.

        1. Design at least two squeeze pages.
        2. Install Analytics on all of them.
        3. Have them lead to a thank you page to track goals (conversion rates) in Google Analytics.
        4. Setup Google Experiments.

If you need further guidance, let me know and I'll point you in the right direction.

    Hi there Lydia,

These are common questions and are the reason we built the Clickthroo app - to make all this stuff super-easy

You are right to want to split-test your LP's, but you should also look into personalization and traffic segmentation - these factors will help boost your conversion rates massively.

Drop me a PM if you need any help with this.

    Good luck

  • 1. To track different traffic sources, just use google analytics

    2. With the webforms it depends if you are using tools like Leadpages, or just html embeding the forms

    3. No, you probably don't need 2 autoresponder sequence. You only do if you are split testing the revenue of 2 squeeze pages, instead of the lead generation

    Hope this helps

    no.

You should be using a third party tracking platform such as propser or trackingdesk

Yes, using a third party tracking platform such as trackingdesk.

Overall, if you want one unique tool to :
    - ab/test landing pages
    - track multiple sources of traffic
    - get proper analytics on all your traffic activity

then you should turn to third party tracking tools.
