How would you target Web Designers if that's your market?

What would be the best way to reach them with your message/offer/product?

What would be the fast way of doing it?

You see, there's one way of just contacting them one by one. Emailing their websites, calling them, chasing them after forums and blog comments.

But is there an efficient way? How would you use paid ads, promotions, ppc to target these guys?

If you just bid on words like "web design" or "web designer", all you're going to do is attract people either looking for web designers or people aspiring to be one.

If you go to online public forums, classifieds or blogs, you're just going to attract a lot of non-web designers. For instance, is WSO the best way to sell to web designers? Most readers of that forum are probably looking for opportunities, not established web designers wasting their time reading WSOs.

Solo Ads is the same thing. Most readers/viewers are just the general market.

So am I missing something here? How would you target Web Designers if that's your market? What's the best way to reach them besides the laborious e-knocking on doors?

I would bid on web services or tools they would use daily via Adwords.

Stuff like HTML builder, SEOMoz... ect.

Manually, I will contact them via Yellow Pages.

But now with this automation tool, I can contact them via other sources as well. Google Maps, Craiglist, Yahoo just to name a few.

Buysellads.com or something similar and I might test targeting sites that deal with wordpress related stuff, graphic design, etc.

    Hope that helped.

Well that is easy. I build sites for a handfull of client and on the many social networks, including chat rooms, If I mention a project I am doing, I get a ton of PMs and replies.

Web designers and developers are a dime a dozen. You can call them the modern starving artists. If I get a pie, then they want a slice of it.

On the flip side if you are needing a site built, that is like setting up a flare. The thing is you need to go where they hang out at and engage them in conversation and work on customer relations instead of hard selling.

There are plenty of web designers right here, but there are also forums like webmastertalk, etc. Join in the conversations in webmaster/designer forums and make yourself a part of the community.

WSOs here easily attract those who design or would like to design sites. I frequently buy templates (Wordpress), plugins, software, graphics from the WSO section, so it really depends on what it is you're trying to sell to them.

I'd get some free scraping software and gather a bunch of Web developer sites. Then I'd write a generic email with my offer. Then I'd email the message site by site tailoring it to the individual. I sold 1000 physical books back in 2000 doing this. It was a computer book. I offered it to ISPs as an incentive for them to get customers. Free Book with sign-up deal. Took about a minute per email.
