Going MAD! Wordpress issue! HELP

Hi Guys!

I have been going NUTS for 3 hours! Any wordpress expert here?

I have a ghostwriting blog with a static page- and I have added another category called "blog" where I intend to post many articles about ghostwriting etc!

I am used to writing on wordpress but for some VERY WEIRD REASONS, whenever I write, edit and publish the post, all I get is a BLOCK of text! The formatting is gone! It's ugly and I have ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA what to do!!!

Any idea, tips, help would be MUCH APPRECIATED!

Thanks in advance

Yoan

You are going to have to post a link to your blog to get some help. (Please don't PM it to me.)

Too many things could be going on for anyone to know off the top of their head.

But don't doesn't sound like a complex error, in terms of programming, something just slipped off.

Check your theme, CSS, and poke around with your browser inspector.

Do you have a plugin that maybe conflicting in some way with the theme css? Is there a child theme perhaps? Just taking pop shots.

A child theme? Not sure what this is !! The blog was custom made I think and its main purpose was to receive orders but I wanted to add pages and posts (blog)!!

Well publish a test post, throw some lorum ipson, then we can dig into the source code for some clues. From what you say, it seems to be a css conflict problem.

Since this theme is made by these people: Blogging on Autopilot 2012 - Auto Blog Blueprint 3.0 why not email them, surely they offered support when you bought it?

Hard to say without inspecting your blog from the inside, but there are general troubleshooting methods for WordPress:

    * Maybe it's problem plugin? Have you installed any new ones or updated any recently? Try deactivating them one at a time. Or (faster) use FTP to rename your WordPress installation's "Plugins" folder - that will deactivate all of them, until you rename it back to the correct name.

I have a ghostwriting blog with a static page- and I have added another category called "blog" where I intend to post many articles about ghostwriting etc!
I'm a bit confused by your message. First you say "static page" (meaning you created a page, and not a post), then you say your "post" has a problem. Is the problem with a post or a page? Since only posts have categories, it must be a post.

*Is it just your newest post or are others affected? Have you tried an edit on an old post? If only the new one, try closing WordPress, restarting your computer, opening WordPress again, deleting the post and starting another.

*Have you looked at the code in HTML view?

    Hope something here helps...

      HI there,

      Thanks for helping out.

In fact, it's the post within the "blog" page that doesn't work as it should! It looks fine when I write and then preview and once I publish it, the formatting is gone and I have a big block, no space nothing!

It's just the newest posts, all the others are fine! I even tweaked some of them and they were all good! I'll do as you suggest and turn off the computer etc!

I haven't updated the plug ins either, so there we go, something to do!

I did look at the HTML and it was fine! Might well be a plug in update problem!

I'll look into this! Thanks so much for you help!

For starters: read the manual and learn the tool you are using.

When you set a "static page" as your frontpage in wp-admin > Settings > Reading... in the same time you MUST set another (existing) Page (not post!!!) as your 'post page' as it says there.

Then do NOT create a blog category (that's a unwise move and now I was unusually mild...). That will not help.
You just go and create posts (in any category, btw) and they will show up on your Page that you set as your 'posts page'.

If they show up messed up - charge back is in order to your webmaster/web designer/webguy... No matter what ignorant instructions you gave them when ordering the site, they should know better than to not have a properly designed main page (aka index, the general fall back template) for a theme.

I've had this happen when using WP's built in visual editor. Sometimes it's because I inserted html from PayPal, sometimes it weirdly is because of a Windows resource problem. Closing FireFox and rebooting Windows restored the proper functionality. Maybe this is your issue, maybe not, but I thought I would share what's worked for me in the past.

It is your very badly coded theme! Nothing to do with you.

Get a decent theme - and forget that nightmare you have there disguised as "coding"...

So, it is not a WP issue... it is idiotic theme issue.
Switch to the default theme and check out how nicely it will work. (BTW, in single posts view it works even now...)
