What steps do you take when developing a product and which order do you do them in?

I am wondering which order you do the main steps when creating a product?

    Some people write the sales letter first. Promise everything under the sun in the pitch. Then they create the product to live up to the claims in the copy.

      Some times I do it this way, and other times, I create the product first.

        The current product I am selling. I created the sales letter first before creating it.

        I can tell you from experience the hardest part is getting people to actually BUY the product...

        ...it's not creating the product.

        I personally find product creation to be easy.

        My suggestion is get your sales page up and running and see if people will actually buy it. You can always refund them. Or give them a free gift while they wait for you to develop the product.

        You will build a product fast knowing that paid customers are waiting for you to give them what they bought

    Start with researching hungry buyers and then outline the cure.

    I, generally, now start by researching what questions people are posting here, what top sellers are on wso pro/jv zoo and then set to work on developing an outlined for a planned possible solution and then I like to test my theory, fast.

    Usually if its an undertaking that requires some time I'll alot myself no more than 30 days (way too long for some folks).

    If I can do something that I know works from past experience then I'll quickly put some training together, and get a sales page going (hardest but most important part).

    Here's my process in summary...

    1. Market research
    2. Write a sales page promising to deliver what the market WANTS.... based on step 1
    3. Create a product that over-delivers on that promise
    4. Provide REVIEW COPIES to potential affiliates
    5. Announce it on LAUNCE SITES to help with affiliate recruitment
    6. Begin the launch process
    7. Launch

    Rinse and repeat.

    In today's age, AFFILIATES and SALES FUNNELS are most important. I find that when I create the sales funnel FIRST, the product planning kind of happens on its own.

    I'm putting together a new video course for marketing on craigslist that i hope to start selling by the weekend as a wso and i've actually done a few vids and now working on the sales copy.. Tonight i'll try and finish the videos and make my copy sexy as well..

    It kind of depends with me because of my A.D.D lol..

    My Best Advice for you is to not over think things if you're planning on getting started with information marketing and start taking action.. You will make mistakes but hopefully you will learn alot and keep improving the more you do..

  • I only get involved in 2 projects a year, usually bigger than the standard project, and the sales pitch is the last thing I craft. I usually spend months developing the product, and a day or two on the sales page.
