Default Big Websites Started Small...

I recently came across this image of amazon.com back in 1995...

It really hit home to me the idea of being willing to START something when it is just 'good enough'.

I don't know about you, but I tend to want to be a perfectionist and have my site looking like the $14.8 billion dollar website (Amazon 2007 revenue) that I want it to become, rather than settling for the functional and useful website that it can be in the beginning.

There's always room for improvement. I wonder if we'll laugh about what Amazon.com looks like now in another 14 years...

Wow thats crazy. Imagine that 14 years ago the person who started amazon was probably just happy to be making a bit of money online i bet he/she never imagined they would be worth billions 14 years from then.

But i bet we will look back at this forum in 14 years and be like Sh*t can't believe wso's were only 20 to post back then...

I am looking for ad swaps pm me if you are too!

From what I've read, Bezo's had a long term business plan in place for amazon from the very beginning. HE WAS shooting for billions And they did not make any profit for MANY MANY years - well after they were a well known name.

WOW amazon's old design reminds me of a super geeky girl, but 10 years later a super hot model XD.

Either way, I am happy you shared the info the amazon's founder. I guess it's about time we all aim for billions, rather than pesky 300 bucks a day. What do you think?

At 1 million books, they weren't exactly small

Anyway, there's something to be said about simple designs without a lot of bells and whistles. They usually convert better because there's not a lot of stuff on screen fighting for people's attention.
