I don't subscribe to a lot of guru newsletters anymore (I find it wastes time and focus from making money)

But it seems to me that there aren't as many of those big launches you use to see: Jeff Walker, Frank Kern, Brendon Burchard, Jeff Johnson, Andy Jenkins, Mike Koenigs, etc.

Is that just me? Are they no longer doing large launches?

Or is this still going on where they all promote each other?

Just wondering, because it seems like there has been a large shift in change in our market. (which i don't think is new)

You just answered your own question. Since you don't subscribe to many of the newsletters anymore, you're not getting the same amount of notifications that you once did.

Big launches are still going on. Though some marketers have gotten out of the MMO market altogether and have gone onto other markets such as offline consulting, creating and marketing apps, etc.

Frank Kern claimed he retired from MMO, but sends an offer about every 2 weeks.

LOL, you didn't subscribe to email lists yet you are wondering about product launches. One of the way to get updated is to selectively be in any of these marketers email lists.

      I'm weird...

I love being on lists and getting promotions...not because I'm buying everything offered to me, but because I like seeing what other people are doing.

Personally, I've never understood the idea that all these emails are distracting. If those emails are distracting you than it's only a matter of time before something else is too.

The point of my question is that I've noticed what seems to be a change in the market from the big product launches.

I feel like we just don't see those any more.

Meaning I feel they're not really working.

That was really the point of my question.

I still subscribe to some lists. Just not all them.

There is a point (and value) to selective ignorance.

I think you have a point. This is a "trendy" niche, when something works everyone seems to jump on the bandwagon...and then run that bandwagon into the ground.

These launches can still work, but I think for awhile there everyone was doing the exact same type of launch. Whether it was the the plethora of high ticket launches that slowed things down is debatable. It could have also been that some of these products just weren't worth the pricetags placed on them.

It's you. Like one of the responders said, you're not on lists and you're wondering why you don't hear about big launches?

Launches are still happening but also be aware that the ways are adapting to the times is one reason why they are being done differently.

Maybe there aren't enough gurus launching products anymore, and, instead, are busy using what they know to make money...without the effort of creating and hyping a product.

I don't think reading an email from the expert a.k.a the guru will decrease our productivity. I think it works the other way around. The more you read the guru's email, offers, and report, you can learn from it and just skip part that you don't need to know. If you feel like you had enough of email from guru, you don't need to read it. I occasionally need some inspiration, so I read several email from gurus that may give me some idea.

Launches peak and wane year after year. Those most likely to know about them are new marketers who still read multiple emails from list owners daily in the goal to be informed and see what others do.

Once you've done this a while you start looking for products you want WHEN you need such a product - instead of evaluating every new thing that is advertised. At that point, you stop signing up for every email list and start opening only those emails from marketers you know and trust.

Then one day you look around and go "where did all the launches go"?

It's one thing to stay updated on products you use or want to use - it's a time suck to stay updated on everything happening in IM.

The gurus bombard you with emails. In the same way casinos in Vegas hit you up constantly to gamble.

You say "No" one thousand times, but the one time you are vulnerable and say yes they bang you for a $2,000 rehashed info product that you could buy naywhere else for $20.

Google "scam world the verge" or go to saltydroid.info and google Andy Jenkins or Mike Koenigs

Someone just brought back a thread from last year on the same subject - so it seems thinking that Gurus no longer do guru stuff isn't a new one.

I know someone who's more of a newb that is real excited about a launch right now so I presume they still happen. I think Kay's right - the people who've been around longer have their own businesses set up already and just aren't paying attention to the "how to get started" stuff any longer. If I remember right - that's what most of the huge launches I've ever seen actually are.
