Must Do's With EACH Wordpress Post?

Hello everyone,

Curious to know what I should make sure to do for every post I make on my blog/site. I got dinged from using Fiverr gigs in the past trying to create backlinks so I stopped, but was wondering if certain ones would be good for minor, time consuming tasks. I found a few that submit to numerous social bookmarks, but was hesitant to use cause again I don't want to cause any damage.

Currently for each post I:
- Submit to facebook, twitter, and my Google+ accounts (don't use any others at the moment)
- Submit article to EA, and a couple other article directories (in bio I link to the article on my site)
- Ensure I have H1, title, keyword tags per article.
- Pingler the URL

Any advice on what else I should do for each post to maximize my exposure and results would be great.

I'd say that's a pretty good process. I sometimes write a guest post on the topic and submit it to site publishers. That takes some time.

I also setup Google alerts for the topic and comment on similar posts and pages that are published. Or comment on current pages on the topic. I know people will argue about the quality of blog commenting but I like to read other content anyway just to learn and it is a natural thing to do. I sometimes even leave my link right in the comment if it is appropriate.

    You want some traffic?

Take that article you write and turn it into a pdf, slideshow,
video and audio file. Then submit each of those to a handful
of the top sharing sites for each.
    (pdf sharing sites, youtube, etc.)

    You could...

Syndicate it to other blogs in your niche if they'll accept it.

Add that post to your signature in any forums in your niche and spend 30 minutes posting on the forum (don't spam, be helpful and give good info).

Use Google Alerts (or Buzz Bundle is better but not free) to track down forums, blogs and social media posts regarding the keyword or topic you've just written about and let people know about it.

Make sure your doing keyword research on what your blogging about first. Sometimes back links are not needed. Use Jaaxy it will help you determine what keywords to go for. If you don't have SEOpressor I would get that as well.

Also if you want legit back links and more traffic go to socialadr and tribepro.

But sounds like you got it together. Just be consistent.

Oh yeah and guest blog in your niche.

Thanks everyone for the tips. Gonna definitely look into socialadr, jaaxy, and buzz bundle. Sound interesting. I tried this other "targeted traffic" offer but would see NO activity on my site, not even newsletter subscrips... and I was supposedly getting 30,000 targeted visitors every month. Highly suspect of the source.

Reedit seems like a place where its difficult to promote so not to lose "karma" and get banned. I saw tons of funny/amusing pictures and/or links to "in the news" or current trend things. Am I mistaken?

In regards to guest blogging, most of the owners I contacted wanted exclusivity to the article/post so I was unable to post the article on my own site. Hard enough to write content daily for my own site let alone additional articles to submit for others. Is this common these days?

Also for content syndication... what's the best way you advise how to develop your list of owners/operators that accept articles that have already been published? I used to do this in the past (10 years ago) and had a list of about 300 owners that I would send to using Mailloop whenever I had another article, it just seems these days everyone wants original articles with exclusivity.

It's part of owning a new website. I thought it was a given that you should always present a website accepting guest posts a unique idea. They don't want a re-write of something on your blog.

You can also signup at MyBlogGuest if you want an easier time finding blogs to guest post on. Some may disagree, but they run a great program.

If you want to minimize backlinking than you can always use long tail keywords in your posts. As Sabatek has said, Jaaxy is a good tool to find easy to rank for long tail keywords.

As for article directories, I wouldn't trust them too much these days. Too much article marketing on directories could eventually lead to a slap.

Other than that, looks like you got everything right.

Wow--this is such a useful thread.

I'd add, make sure that you back up your files, and keep a running blog audit spreadsheet with each of your posts so that when you do a content audit you aren't overloaded with frontwork. Jenn at WritingForBloggers.com covers blog content audits and spreadsheets for them really well.

The first thing that you should do is to add a bunch of ping sites to your "writing" section in Wordpress.

Turn it into a forum post with a 'read more' link. Assign it to your VA to post to the forums in your niche your VA has cultivated legit accounts on.

I would take a look at SEOpressor or Yoast SEO (Yoast's is free), and they both will give you a checklist of sorts right on your post's page so that you can be sure to do all of the on-page stuff right.
