I have been interested in internet marketing for the past month or so and I have been looking for information everywhere I can and taking notes as I go. The flow of information is enormous and everyone seems to have their methods of what to do to accomplish your goal. I haven't felt the needs to invest in programs to walk me through it I would like to understand the business first. I want to be able to make it from point A to B and understand how I got there and why it worked. But in all my research through forum, eBooks and YouTube videos on internet marketing there seem to be gaps or info that is left out or maybe I am overlooking it.

One of my questions is about the free gift. Now I have applied to some opt-ins some gave me an instant download and others gave me a thank you page telling me to check my email with another link to the gift. My question is where is the free gift being held is it on my site or is it uploaded somewhere else with a link tied into aweber giving me the gift when I hit download. Do I make the download page?

My second question is about the website and squeeze page. ( I understand the squeeze page helps build your list ) Is the squeeze page the page used to promote your blog/website for example with the domain howtostaysexy.com when someone searches for that and clicks the link should they get the squeeze page or your website/blog? The website/blog will have all the info and content so wouldn't you want them to see that. And would you have your squeeze page on a private link you used in forums and Facebook to get opt-ins. These 2 things can't share the same domain so it's one or the other depending on whether you use a theme or plug in for your squeeze.
Lastly starting out where is money well spent and what to do with the rest: 150.00$

10.00 domain (name cheap)
10.00 hosting (host gater)
1.00 email (aweber month one)
27.99 plugin (WP lead plus) squeeze page plug in--thinking about it
97.99 theme (optimize press) it's a theme not sure if you can have blog and squeeze

If I choose to get WP lead plus I would have only spent 48.99$ that leaves me with extra money what to do with it.

Sorry for coming off as a complete noob but the best way to find an answer to a problem is to ask questions. Thanks for any info and tips you are willing to share.

    Hi!

There are loads of ways to do the download thing. The simplest is to put it on your site, and link to it (make the url not indexable (noindex, nofollow), and not an easy url to guess)

You could also host it in cloud storage, or use a download security system, like DL Guard (does a lot more than that though!)

A squeeze page squeezes information out of people, so name and e-mail address to add to your aWeber list. If gives an offer in exchange for contact details. You would drive traffic to the squeeze page to grow your list. You would drive traffic to your sales page to get sales (but you won't get optins, so traffic better to the squeeze page) To drive traffic to your site to get popularity, authority and rankings, and sales as well. If they leave though, and you're not collecting the details, then you'll need to pay for more traffic.

Optimize Press should do for the squeeze page creation - unless you want a 'small number of clicks solution'.

I'd be going with the domain, hosting, aWeber, and the theme of your choosing. Spend the rest of your money driving traffic to it, such as with 'test' lower cost, lower click solo ads. Once you start to see some sales, ramp it up.

      Ok,

If I took your suggestion and did the squeeze page to build up my list with optimize press that would mean I would have a 2 to 3 page website squeeze page and download page... where would I put content/blog? It looks like optimize is just for squeeze pages and not blogging. Would I be getting to know my list through emails?

        Hello

I am going to let you know that the easiest way to do this is to take it one step at a time and master it. If you are going to go that way then you will definitely going to have to know what you are doing. So first just breath lol then learn what you need to know about about a website then move on to point B. Do not want to be jack of all trades and master of none lol.

So what are you attempting first of all?

Thanks for the info I guess first thing i need to do is narrow down my list and find some worth keywords for a domain. I think with this being new to me and with all the info out there it can be a bit over whelming. I was trying to learn the ends and outs before I even launch my first site.
