How do you increase your conversions?

So you've got traffic, got a website, got a product and got an offer!

You're making sales, making some money!

How do YOU go about getting more visitors to BUY?

Specifically, what's your process and your tools? What successes have you had with increasing conversions and what problems are you having?

Would love to learn what you're all doing.

    - Split Headlines Copy

    - Split Test Offers (If doing CPA)

    - Split Test Listing Building vs Direct Sales

    - Split Test Newsletter Headlines (If doing List Building)

    - Make your site as clean and simple as possible.

    - Integrate videos.

    - Get user testimonials.

    - Tracking what traffic sources convert the best and get more that kind of traffic.

    - Test new free traffic sources.

    - Test new paid traffic sources.

    - Change offer pricing (If you own it.)

    - Setup up-sales.

    - Setup an affiliate program.

This is a topic very close to my heart. Visitors that don't convert are the ultimate in money being left on the table.

My advice is to make every pixel on your site count. If any element on your site, no matter how small, doesn't have a role in increasing conversions, either get rid of it or change it to something that does.

And keep close tabs on visitor value...

(sales - sale costs) / number of visitors

...and strive to drive that number up. Anything above $0.50 is considered good. I strive for $1.00.

    Cheers,

    Neil

Very good replies. One thing that wasn't mentioned is that you should always aim to drive traffic to split test until there's a statistically significant difference. Many people make the mistake to stop their split tests when the results are going in a certain direction - that's a big mistake as the result is likely to be biased.

One other thing that hasn't been mentioned is your back end. Can I assume that your visitors have already been added to your email list before they arrive at your offer? You didn't specify. If you get them on your mailing list, you then get more than one chance to try to convert them.
While split testing headlines etc can also be beneficial for an Optin page, you might find that improving your offer is more effective for increasing your optin percentages.

Back to your offer page, if they don't bite, do you have a downsell? That can offer once more chance to add a buyer to your list instead of just a prospect.

Finally, how is your copy? Was it professionally written or reviewed? Are you selling your product, or the benefits it provides? Do you state clearly what the buyer will receive when they buy? People don't like to buy 'mystery solutions'.

Finally, does your copy introduce scarcity in any way? Limited time, price increasing soon, limited slots etc? The psychological effect of feeling like they might miss out completely if they don't act now can be quite compelling.

Ya I would tend to agree with jrimshot on this one. Tweaking your backend or adding upsells, cross sells , down sells, etc. to your sales funnel will definitely bump your conversions.

Outside of that you should split test everything, including the design of the sales copy if you can.

Split test design, headlines, sub-headlines, guarantee, and price. There are probably a lot more things you should split-test but it really depends what your product is all about.
