This Guy Wrote A Computer Program To Do His Job For Him.

"Then I used some form of macro to feed that data into the credit reporting agencies system. I did feel bad because these were real people and while a person might miss a few names, the software would not. So I would randomly pardon a person until the next round. This task normally took a month. It now took less than 15 minutes."
Bold is mine.

There is a certain amount of poetic justice in this. I love it!

It's like the guy that outsourced his coding job to china and spent the day on Facebook. Instead of being given a promotion they fired him.

Ah yes. I remember back in my System Administration days where the older guys would say "Why do it the hard way when you can have a program do the work for you?". They would always gloat about having programs running in the background to do just about everything they could. It's why I love IT.

None the less I love that idea and I hope to do something like that myself in future businesses, it's one of the main attractions to doing business online.

These days they don't need us the computers do it all. Heck 20 to 30 years ago computers would order their own parts. Today a robot will replace those parts lol.

Yep! I've written a lot of *nix shell scripts that saved me a lot of hours work. With the side benefit of the results being more accurate.

Lol. I can relate to this. I've had some projects which required a lot of click throughs and because I want to save time, especially save myself from carpal tunnel syndrome, I decided to use macro. It works well but when I use it, I double check all important details that shouldn't be missed. Perhaps, I can't let the program handle all the work, no room for mistakes

I think there is a significant difference in that none of the company data was at risk, there were no outside people involved and he really was responsible for the results.
