Have you ever got outside investment?

So I was wondering if anyone here had got outside investment (excluding family and friends) for their business(s), if so how much and what have you used it for?

I recently got a £20k ($30k) investment, I haven't spent any yet, still meeting up with the investor and will let you know how I get on.

    Congrats.

    Just a couple of questions if you don't mind. If you haven't spent any of it, why did you need it? Were you looking to just have cash in the bank if something came along? How old was your company and what would entice someone to invest such a large amount? Guarantee ROI?
