Are YOU an action taker?

Just a quick tip for my fellow Warriors today.

One of the biggest things that separates the successful people from the unsuccessful people is that the successful people take action.

Yes they are reading, and yes they are learning but they are also taking action.

Learn but also take action because doing so will allow you to make more money in the long run.

What actions are you taking every day to grow your online business?

    Hi Malcolm,

I couldn't agree more with you! I have been a READER for years but I am turning into an action taker now!

Big reader, why? Because I was born with the "procrastination coupled with the laziness gene"! LOL! That's what I call it! I could find every EXCUSE UNDER THE SUN!

I try do to more everyday! I am a recovering procrastinator so to speak! I like the idea that MASSIVE ACTION EQUALS MASSIVE RESULTS and I have tested it and see that it works!

I no longer read so much material, I just implement! Also, I try to use different creative things to get me motivated! I use mind mapping for instance but not the online mind mapping thing, I do it myself! Some would call it another procrastination device but it works for me!

I need to get off the screen for a while! I need inspiration other than from other people etc! That helped big time!

I think you have to find what suits you! I also write a lot in longhand-- again, a creative thing-- and it works!

So there we go, my take and experience on this! I am a recovering procrastinator and budding action taker! LOL

Cheers and have a great week!

    Yoan

Yes, so true. Massive Action equals massive results. I think the hardest thing for most newbies to get past is the procrastination stage of learning but not doing anything. Once you decide to just Take Action and learn from your mistakes, then you begin to see the tremendous effect it has on your bank account

Haha I think I might have been born with this too, Yoan :-D

But I have been able to fight it off, or atleast most of it. I still do a lot of reading, but I also take more action.

Still not perfect, but who is anyway?

Hi Frederik! Glad were are sharing the same genes! I am sure plenty of people do, but as long as we know and work on it, that's good!!

And, nobody's perfect...although, I presume some believe they are!

It's very surprising that even we say it so much, most of the newbies will still look for a so called paid information which revels some kind of secret. I call it human nature. lol! What else it could be?

I tend to do the opposite

I like to start doing stuff even before I know the gist of everything. But in the end I think it's better than the other way around.

I read a lot and it took me a while to take action. I don't regret it though because I think it saved me a lot of money. Obviously it's mandatory to take action but I don't think you should jump in the deep too fast.

I've been coaching people for some time now and it always seems like they want every little piece of information that they can absorb but 9/10 times they never do anything with that information.

It's like the lottery, people know about it and want to win but they don't buy a ticket???

Exactly this. And this is what is called information overload. Learning is great but it MUST be coupled with action otherwise it's simply in one ear and out the other.

That's why you charge em high for your services... that'll make them take action. And if they dont take action after you've coached and consulted them with GREAT info... it's on them - not you.

This is absolutely me! I always thought that I can learn a lot by reading and researching. This might be true but it does not give you the same benefits and results when you actually put your plans and ideas into implementation. Or maybe... I was just taking the advice of Abe Lincoln

"Give me six hours to chop down a tree and I will spend the first four sharpening the axe."

        Or maybe not :p

Agreed. I like to fully understand a topic or create a business model before I implement anything. This leads to success in everything I implement because I understand what is going to happen as I have thought about it and created an action plan from a detailed perspective. However, often times I have to just push it aside and say "you don't have to get it right, you just have to get it going". Action = Results.

    Thanks for the inspiring post,
    Ali

The most important step is the first one.

I couldn't agree with you more. A plan without action is clearly going to fail. You can have all of the knowledge you need, but if you fail to take action and plan, then you will not make progress.

  • I had read it before but now really believe that you can get 90% of the results you want by doing the 10% that really matters and that 10% generally is very specific actions that you know you need to do but do not. The things you do not do are generally tied to fear, discomfort or some other emotional barrier.

Now as time goes on and I meet friends I have not seen in month or a year I find their story remains the same. They are doing a bunch of not very meaningful stuff but the important things are still what they talk about. They may go back to school next year, the may start a business next year, they may leave their partner next year etc.. they just remain stuck.

If you’ve been in this business for at least a month or so, you most likely have everything needed to start earning a full time income online. Even the people who haven’t made a single cent, already know this on some level. What most likely happens is they continue to absorb more information until they completely Zombie out and become marketing vegetables. In essence, they have a head full of mush, I’ve been there too. It’s a killer.

No doubt what most people do is study 10 times more than they take action. It's not hard to see this being played out in this business to be honest. They study for 10 hours and take 1 hour of action.

I reckon the number is prob'ly much higher than this. Maybe a ratio of 15 to 1 is more accurate. This becomes a habit over time. Just like anything else in life, habits are easily formed and very hard to break.

The biggest problem with the "study to action" ratio is that most people are not fully conscious of how detrimental it is to their success, or lack thereof. I wouldn’t mind – but it’s not a difficult obstacle to overcome once we stop thinking and start doing.
Momentum baby, that’s what we need.

The only way to get crystal clear about your intentions is to put a specific deadline on whatever you do – and once you touch a project, you finish the damn thing come hell or high water.

If more people would act immediately on every piece of valuable information they come across, we'd see more successes in this business. When reading a report or watching a video, immediately take action with the first quality bit of information you come across. Even if it's just for 10 minutes. Form this habit and results will compound over time.

At the end of the day, it’s action that yields results – and yet most people are focusing on “studying” instead. It’s easy to study. It’s easy to passively consume information and falsely believe you’re being productive, but you’re not. You’re busy wasting the most valuable asset we Internet marketers have, which is our “time” of course.

You've just said it all here!! Marketing Vegetables! Love the term! I suppose the studying part is comforting in some way. You feel great, there's potential but it's all in the books, so there's no danger! It's exactly what you're saying " passively consuming information" just like wannabe writer wait for the "muse" to show up and inspire them! She never shows up except when you start writing even if it's a few lines at first! That's what most writers say!

      Really great post! Thanks!

Recently I learnt a simple concept. It says successful people tend to be productive. That's the key - being productive. What is stoping most people from achieving success is distraction.

Imagine this: you are working on a product and suddenly an email promoting a shinny new thing catches your eyes. You drop everything you are doing and check that new product out.

I believe if you can ignore distractions, figure out what you want to do, focus on that one thing long enough, I am sure you will be able to achieve significant success.

Use task list to keep you on track, it helps

I agree it is difficult to get started in the beginning due to information overload. I was stuck in the "all learning mode" and not taking action for quite a while. I later realized the reason I hadn't taken action was because I was afraid to make mistakes. I finally overcame that when I realized that I learned more from my mistakes then I did from perfection. I know fear of failure is the main reason people don't take action. I no longer am afraid to fail. The thing with internet marketing is you will fail more than you succeed, but inevitably if you keep going you will succeed. It is simply the law of averages. Quitting guarantees failure, persistence guarantees success. With every failure I learn so much, and it helps me to be successful, and then maintain that success.

As far as the actions I take everyday. I have a standard "to do list" that I must complete daily to maintain my business. Then I dedicated at least two hours a day to continue learning new things. Then I immediately implement what I learned as long as it applies to my business. Knowledge is powerful and will help me succeed.

As I love sports, extreme one, means ACTION is that thing I love more. Taking action is part of this job and if you are not ready to perform it, leave it, it's not for you.
When I see some opportunity I grab it until is still on the air and I never think about fail because this is also part of the marketing. Taking a risk can make you rich or can make your bank account come to zero. Are you ready to take that risk?
Well inside marketing circle there is place for people who failed in their action but main problem lies down in those people who did not stand again on their feet after that.

If you are able to rise up on the top again, means you are good marketer and taking ACTION is only way to know if something working or not!!!

True action is what is needed, when I first started I never took action just reading, learning and reading more, learning more. You need to jump in and don't be scared to make mistakes you will learn from them.

My latest action is testing my OTO with my new subscribers I would like a higher conversion buyer rate than what I am currently getting.

I meditate and focus on success in many areas of life but unless I take action, it's all useless. As they say "God helps those that help themselves." It's when I do something that many times other things just kinda happen or fall into place, or when I make mistakes by taking action will another, better way be opened. But you have to do something.

Just taking any action, guarantees nothing. You need a solid plan of action and a system and then take ACTION. Many people are not lazy and some really do want success more than anything. They simply take lots of action and fail, people need a solid system/plan and then taking action, can validate success down the line.
