If You're the Kind of Person Who is Struggling, Tell Me WHY...

Why do you do What You do Every Day as an Internet Marketer?

What do you think about when you get out of bed every day?

In Summary, Why are You an Internet Marketer???

I am only discussing about internet marketing so don't share all of your other fantasies. Just about why you do internet marketing...

I am trying to get a sense of why 99% of the internet marketers fail. Doing some research and I have a sense of why. So want to hear from you all.

If everyone answers the question honestly, then we can find a trend and I will explain what I have in mind as we go along. This could be a healthy discussion.

So to get started... let me begin.

"I get out of bed every day wanting to help at least one internet marketer get ahead by telling them what I know from my own successes and failures over the past 15+ years..."

How about you?

It's usually procrastination and "good intentions".

The reason a job is different for people without that control is they have someone whipping them.

For me, I also worry about doing things incorrectly and getting banned ect. In other words, I'm not taking enough risks.

I have too many ideas coming into my head from threads, most of them contradicting each other, which is a downside if you don't know how to properly go about something.

I'm also lazy as I play a lot of video games.

    Hope that answers your question.

Thank you for the quick response. Do you consider yourself a successful internet marketer or just as someone still trying?

Also why are you into internet marketing?

I am making a decent side income (in my opinion, very small though) to pay one bill or two a month but I just don't know where to go with it all. I am trying to figure out other ways to get traffic other than SEO so thats why I joined WF is to read and learn right now. Trying to make it but need to do a lot more work.

I am an internet marketer because I spend so much time on the internet, and it came to me, why not make money online while I surf the web and meet other people? So this quickly became an obsession for me over the past 5 years.

In short, I have not reached the level of success I desire online. I do however make a decent income.

What started working for me once I decided to go full time is when I stopped bouncing from one thing to the next and focused on one business, and from there everything started to make sense and a lot easier.

Some main factors I would attribute to why people would generally do Internet Marketing. Freedom to work when I want, no externally forced pressure, satisfaction and the monetary part as well.

In reality you only need 3 things to be successful in this business.

    1) A solid plan

    2) Implementation of that plan (aka ACTION)

    3) Persistence with that plan until you make it work

There is no way you can fail if you do that. With persistence you will keep altering a plan until it does work. Everytime something does not work you look at that as a learning experience and you move on. Eventually you hit what does work for you.

My point is there is an abundance of information out there that people could implement to make money online. List building is one such example. It is a tried and true method for making money online. In fact most of the gurus selling products and courses teaching you how to make money are actually making the majority of their money by selling you stuff as a member of their list. List building is not difficult at all.

So step one is NOT the problem. Information is readily available for anyone who wants it. I bet if you also looked at the hard drives of most unsuccessful people in this forum they would all be chock block full of courses and WSO's they never implemented. So lack of information is never the problem.

The reason most people do not succeed is due to lack of action. But not just any action. Out of those few who do take action, only a few of them will have the determination and persistence to keep going until they make their plan work. Even a lot of action takers will throw in the towel way too early. The easy thing to do is to just give up and blame everyone and everything else for your lack of success. Blame the courses. Blame the gurus. Blame the forum. Blame everything except for yourself.

So even point 2 is not entirely the problem. Action alone is not a guarantee of success.

The problem is point 3. Persistence.

A plan without action will get you nowhere. Action without persistence will only ever get you part of the way. But a solid plan with persistent action will always get you to your desired outcome. The reality is though, majority of people just do not have the self discipline to stick it out. A lot of this stems from the instant gratification society we live in nowadays. Most people seem to think making money online should be easy and quick. When they find out the reality is very different, they move on very quickly. A lot of people are scared of hard work.

Very good post by Will. I agree with everything he said and I think it's worth highlighting this part.

Even if you take massive action and persist, if your plan isn't sound, you will fail. There is NOTHING more frustrating than working 16 hours a day 7 days a week and seeing 'no results.'

You have to be able to gauge the difference between between being '3 feet from Gold' and 'digging in the wrong place.' The difference is not always easy to recognize - but it's extremely important.

I'm the type of person who would rather literally die trying than quit, but if you're pursuing a poor plan that becomes a nightmare.

That's why I would add FLEXIBILITY as another important quality any successful IM'er must have. Be flexible and willing to change if things don't feel right and you aren't making progress.

Absolutely. Must have a strong plan that works. Testing Testing Testing on a small scale is very important before pushing a massing campaign that may have a strong plan. If you push the wrong plan, the results will be poor.

The main reason is because I want my family to have a better lifestyle and I do not want to them to worry about money matters. I grow up in a environment where my family is constantly worried about not having enough money. Just thinking of this gets me motivated to grow my online business

imho: To be constantly motivated to do better and never give up...
sometime what you are doing may exactly be the same as other who had succeeded but still fail in the end.. I hate to admit but small element of luck still plays a part..
Nevertheless.. it is more of how fast you want to succeed...

Some very good points posted above. Thank you.

Special thanks to WarriorWill for taking your time to explain that action matters. Without action, there won't be nothing. Great points.

Jackson. I don't believe in luck. Luck is something that those that are not fortunate like to use as an excuse for why they are not successful.

In your example, why some don't succeed when they follow the exact footprint of a successful person, it is because their motivation is NOT the same as the person who was successful.

The person who is copying is trying to become rich quickly, etc, etc. The person who succeeded may have had many other legit reasons for what he or she was doing which resulted in success.

I have to agree above about what is said about luck. I hate when people say that because so many lazy people use that as an excuse. "Mark Zuckerberg was lucky with Facebook", really? Sorry but I refuse to believe that luck has anything to do with it. Work hard and doors will open up to you. People just want to see how others are succeeding and say "it must be luck" but they never acknowledge that they worked hard to get there.

Nonetheless the reason I wanted to get into IM was because I've always been interested in starting an online business. I love the idea of being able to live anywhere and everywhere and still make good money. Not to mention the fact that the world is your market now, not just the 10 mile radius around your brick and mortar store.

My biggest issue is procrastination combined with high expectations. I'm the kind of person that doesn't do small things. I always want to do things big and grand and when I fail at doing exactly what I want I feel like a failure and it deflates me. So I go through a rollercoaster effect which I expect too much from myself and it eventually leads me to procrastination. so I'm trying to make things simple as possible and build up those little victories to keep me going. That and I'm also very impatient but that helps because I usually end up working a lot more than some people.

Financial independency is my main reason, like a lot others on here. Unlike most day jobs now a days, I also really like learning and reading about my "job".

I also really enjoy helping others reach their financial goals. I must admit I didn't go into this business thinking: "Wow I am going to help a lot of people reach their financial goals in life". But it has become some sort of drug though :-) Reaching your own success is REALLY great, but helping others is really what makes you 'feel good'.

On a serious note I think about what I should be doing today and trying to get into my "success entreprenuer mindset".

Helping others will not only provide you with the good feeling, it will also make you rich over time. You are building a community of people that you've helped to make it through. This is what I do and it had paid off in many folds. This means you enjoy what you do.

I tend to like internet marketing cause it is a route to freedom and its a route that allows me to do it and be more creative and independent than many other business opportunities.

I have struggled because of these things:
No time or no not enough money. huge learning curve I hear is the biggest for people. I found after you learn everything to know about marketing you keep buying products anyways for a long time and then you think the only way you can make money is if you go into marketing as a marketer that tries to help others succeed at marketing when you haven't succeeded yourself and then your all like wait a minute can I do this if I don't have the credibility?
Also it is a struggle because it is so easy to get caught in perfectionism, and take forever to get something accomplished.
I found with creating a list I would want to go the extra mile to create a kick ass list but then the project would drag on for months, it was like there was no easy way to do it, be better than everyone else or even just good enough to know that I would make money and then do it fast and easy. I often wanted other like minded people to talk to and to shoot ideas off of, kind of like a mentor but without having to pay thousands of dollars.

I guess if you are trying to help marketers by creating a product that will help them, they really want short cuts and something that they know will work for them.

I hope that helps. If so please press thanks button. it will help out my profile a lot thanks!
