I figure, the buyers are there and there are lots of them. Time to step into that revenue stream. Yes, maybe crazy since it is so flooded with people and lots of stuff...but that is a good thing. ![]() My plan: 1. Killer name squeeze page to get opt-ins. 2. Give content and nothing more in early emails. 3. Ask them questions, early in emails, to get them involved. 4. Then start mixing in some affiliate products, ESPECIALLY the ones that answer or solve their questions from step #3. Rinse and repeat 1-4 over the course of 6 months...all automated in a Aweber. Simple and to the point. The key is making everything personal, creating trust...the relationship. The main objective...get them in the funnel...so seek out traffic via articles, etc. I may even flood my page with PPC traffic and spend maybe $500-$700 initially to see several things. A.) Opt-in rate B.) See if affiliate products sell. Basically see if this funnel will have a good chance of making sales...and if so, then I can really push the marketing of the squeeze page once it works. Going to be interesting, but I think I can maybe get a fraction of the weight loss share and bank a bit. |

My very first website was a diet one and it made me lots of cash so your not alone in wanting to go into the diet niche. When it is set up yahoo answers is a great place to plug your niche they ask that many diet related questions and you could simply send them the direct link to your subscribers page.

Nice idea I have been thinking along the same lines. It's one area that I have not really looked into. It's all about time, so many niches, so many opportunities |

I'm pretty excited to try this and really focus on AWESOME content in my emails that go out and setting up the whole "system" and not just throwing random offers at them. I've never gone into a BIG niche like this before so it should be interesting. If anyone that has been in this niche recommends any high converting products, I'm all ears. Thanks! |

DO you recommend using the Templates in Aweber? They seem very nice and appealing..I want this email newsletter to look professional. Second, since my newsletter contains the words "weight loss" a lot, I'm getting a spam rating of over 7, which is not good. Anyway to avoid this? Also, should I personalize the "From" as my Ghost name or the name of the newsletter? Thanks! |

You can put a . in between the words so they arn't picked up on. A lot people will do it when they use the word mon.ey. Seems to work pretty well. Try it with we.ight loss and see what happens |

I'm working on the build muscle niche, and there is some crossover. Try to use synonyms ("drop pounds", "get slim", etc.) instead of lose weight. It has worked in my emails anyway.

Though many people might say the weight loss niche is saturated there are a lot or room in it. You just got to be as specific as possible. By that I mean you should know your target audience. For example it would be better to go after women who want to lose weight for wedding or a special occasion rather that just going after people who wants to lose weight. |

Just don't sell scammy stuff. I have an extensive background in weight loss and most of the stuff out there is a bunch of crap. People lie about stuff all the time. Take Acai Berry for instance. There is zero research on it for weight loss in the scientific journals.

Good luck with that. I'd be really interested in hearing how well you do. It might give me some advice and insight on what I am likely doing wrong. I've had a blog up in the muscle building/fat burning niche for 3 months now and have had one opt-in, zero affiliate product sales and about $16 in Adsense. Sean |

The weight loss niche is a good one. I mean, look at how many people are overweight. Even the ones who are fit are still concerned with their weight so they'll stay that way. And if one diet worked, wouldn't we all follow that one and be done with it, closing up the need for the weight loss niche? I agree with what someone else said -- watch out for scammy stuff. There's the whole stink going on right now with Hydroxycut. I guess there's always a stink going on with one program or another. But there ARE plenty of programs that work. It's just a matter of the dieter being devoted to the plan. |

Heya, I'm just starting out in the weight loss niche too. I was kinda wary at first because of the competition but I'm determined to make it work.

I just recently jumped into another heavily saturated niche, golf, and have started making money from it so I'm sure that you can find a place in the weight loss niche. Good luck!

Weight loss is a tough nut to crack, but with consistency, a great landing page, keyword research to find some good longtails, and a good backlinking strategy you can certainly make money at it. There wouldn't be so much competition if there wasn't so much money to be made. Good luck!

Good luck. I can recommend Ken's 1 article a day on weight loss. I also got into the WL niche about a year ago, good money to be made.

Dayne, I want to get into this niche too. Your thoughts on entering this niche are very similar to mine. I mainly worry about getting a web site ranked in Google, getting enough traffic, etc. However, I guess if a good list can somehow be generated and be continually expanded, this can be a gold mine because there are like a zillion sub-niches in this category. And, I think interest in this niche will only be increasing over the years. It's just getting started and then trying not to get discouraged...that's what I'm guessing. |

I've been in the weight loss niche for just over 6/7 Months now. My aim for the first 5 month was to fill my site with suitable articles of which then I bombard with High PR back links in order to rank highly for specific keywords. For the last 2 months due to college I've done no work at all on my site yet according to google webmaster im ranking #1 in several of the smaller niche weightloss keywords! Now my aim is to monetize is through affiliate links and product reviews. My website is fairly strong in the rankings, if you need any help at all feel free to PM me |

My recommendation is to focus on a subniche within the large Weight Loss niche. You'll still find good search demand, but with much less competition. Some quick research pulled up these numbers for the subniche "weight loss plans": - "free weight loss meal plans" (522 daily searches/11,900 competing google pages) - "free weight loss plans" (294 daily searches/61,100 competing google pages) - "weight loss menu plans" (31 daily searches/1,800 competing google pages) - "weight loss meal plans" (23 daily searches/28,300 competing google pages) You get the picture. Weight loss niche in general is highly competitive. But those subniches (and boy there are plenty of them), they are much more easy to grab off the money tree. KateD |

How is this plan coming along? I notice in your first post you thought about $500 testing on adwords? I wouldnt do that. You can test the market with free traffic, and the adwords in this market is too competitive unless you know damn well you have a page that does the job, which by definition you don't yet. I came across this thread from a few weeks ago and wondered if the weight loss niche is worth getting into starting from scratch. Yes, it is a huge niche and many people make money. I guess one problem is somehow avoiding being tarred with the same brush as all the scammers and fly-by-nights. Is it worth the hassle of months of work? Quite possibly, but what are your thoughts on this niche? Thanks, Sam |
