Monetizing Twitter Followers

Im not at the stage where i would like to monetize my followers as they are very valuable to me. But recently my followers have been gaining momentum and growing faster every day. I dont really have any sort of plan as yet other then providing them with quality tweets.

But i guess as an online marketer i would be stupid not to monetize my followers once i have a giant list of them. But again i adore and respect my followers and do not want to spam them. So as my list of followers grows to just under 500 and hopefully into the thousands.

How can i and othere tweeters monetize without diminishing our popularity or disrespecting our followers and still providning quality content?

there is nothing wrong with posting links to your freebies to get numbers on your list. A good rule is for every 15 tweets you do 1 should be a promotion. People hate affiliate links so dont go down that route and do it as a update dont send out the message via @s and people dont like this. You can also offer say 1 of your products a day at a lower price or find 7 and put one on a day over a 7 day period. Im not telling you to go off and make 7 products but by picking up some good quality free ones with master resale rights will go down great.

You could also include other links over the day:

links to lists i.e. free press release sites, article directories etc
links to a vintage blog post that is relevant

    and so on

i do all this everyday and my followers increases by 300-500 a day so they really wont mind. Make sure you have a good automated dm during following as this is where you can get the sales.

if you need extra help there is a free twitter ebook in my sig!

    Hi Goin Deep:

As your Twitter list grows (good job) you can intertwine plugs for your products/sites/blogs with Tweets that offer useful content and make people want to be part of your world.

A good rule of thumb is make 9 Tweets where you are not selling something and 1 out of ten where you may want somebody to go to your blog or website. You'll see some folks overdue this. A few in particular will have 8 postings in a matter of minutes all plugging something else.

You want to build things for the long haul. Take your time and do it right.

    Enjoy the journey!

Give them value - and sell them HIGHER value?

Tell them what/why - and sell them HOW?

Build up TRUST - and profit from the relationship?

I'd go for monetizing the Twitter EXPERIENCE rather than
just the 'followers'. You can GET more from Twitter, too
and that will grow your business just as much as selling
or marketing stuff to followers will.

    * Get JV deals arranged with big names in your niche
    * Seek advice and assistance with tricky problems
    * Invite guest content for your blog, books or product
    * Receive reviews and critiques of products or sales pages

And you can even go for the more subtle effects, like
branding yourself and your business, getting visibility
for your blog and website, becoming known as an expert.

There are MANY ways to Twitter Profit - and not all are
as blatant and in-your-face as tweeting sales pitches
    at followers!

    All success

My strategy which is simply to have the link on my profile be of interest, which is a blog, and then include the same link in my tweets every so often. My blog does the monetizing. It gets you the most respect and loyalty.

I agree with you RDBranson. Since most people may not be as Internet savvy as a group of people like us, but they know enough to surf the net comfortably. They seek out the information of interest to them. Blogs seem to be a huge choice for information on the Internet these days. So people trust them if they find them informatable and relavant.

What have I seen a lot of people on my list doing is simply spamming out tweet updates stating "Learn my secrets at LINK"

Honestly, people don't follow you to see this kind of stuff. They have most likely followed you so they will get a follow in return so they can in turn spam their own products to their list. You have to do something that other users are not currently doing if you want a good click thru ratio and a good conversion rate.

Remember: People just can't get enough of the freebies and advice. You've never too old to learn a new trick, so keep your list updated with constant new tricks and advice for the time being.

    Hey GoinDeep,

When you have high number of Twitter
Followers I think it is important to use
a twitter client. I am using the TweetDeck.

As for the content. Since you have a lot of
followers now, I would suggest you start re-tweeting
the usefull content someone else provides every now and
    then.
Another tip would be to start using the @ more often to
reply directly to the tweeple. and so on.

    ~Igor
