Hosting, sites v slow, upgrade, or purchase more, reseller, business plan?

Hi guys, I've quite a few sites with hostmonster, they're starting to run a little slow. hostmonster said they're being throttled, and I should move from Standard Web Hosting to Pro Web Hosting.

I'm paid up to septemer 2014 with the standard, they said it's $120 to upgrade to Pro.

Is this the right way to go?

Or should I buy hosting with another provider, and move half my sites there?

If so, who do you guys recommend? and what plan?

Cheers

Hostmonster used to be part of Bluehost -- same exact company. They heavily throttle sites.
Hostmonster is now EIG brand, too .... it's even more terrible.
"Upgrading" will just be giving them more money for the same service (same server, etc)

Hostgator is also a crappy EIG brand. Get away from EIG.

Try Site5 or Arvixe instead. Those are independently owned companies, not part of EIG.
If you can get away from unlimited entirely, and know your resource use, try Stablehost.

    There are better hosts.

I agree with the hostmonster comments, but hostgator? They always seem to be highly praised on here...

Do you happen to use a CDN? That may be another route.

I personally use HostGator + CDN and don't have any issues...but your sites may be pulling more resources.

I use MaxCDN and have had good results with them.

The pre-EIG reputation is lingering at WF. Elsewhere online, they're getting lots of complaints for slow support and overloaded servers. It gets worse month by month.

This forum seems heavily duped by fake "top 10" lists. There are some good people here, but many seem to believe everything they read on the internet. Hosting choices are especially bad.

        Again, there are better hosts.

Some popular content delivery networks (CDN) are Cloudflare and MaxCDN.
