Sorry if this is a stupid question but why is Bitly free? I can't see how its monetized?
Or is it not free/ subscription to come?

I'm looking at a new way to track my links so I'm planning on tracking using a bitly link via
a php redirect from my own domain. Anyone have any views whether this is a good/ bad idea? I'm a little worried about losing control of my link using a third party but I may just have to accept this in order to track. Or is there a way of tracking links via my own site using cpanel?

Thanks for any suggestions.
Paul

    Bad.

Countless Warriors have had countless problems with bit.ly, and in the long run it makes little sense to let your business be dependent on the longevity, security and reliability of an unnecessary third-party service run on a Libyan domain.

Do you use WordPress? PrettyLink might suit you? Sorry that I'm unable to advise you on other, safer, better ways of doing this (but there are some!).

    Thanks Alexa.
    You've confirmed my concerns.
I'll look for something else and thank you Dan. Perhaps others have experience of hypertracker ?
