Removing Skype from Taskbar when not using it

Hi,

Anyone know how to get rid on Skype from the taskbar when I'm not using it on the newest version? I had figured out how to do it on the last version and that method has since been changed in the newest version.

They give me the option to "Quit Skype" when right click, but no option to remove it from the taskbar.

Only way is to close the program completely, from what I understand.

If you need more space & that is why you're asking, you have 2 choices.

One of them is free. The other choice costs 5 bux.

Option 1: Enable small icons for the taskbar.

Option 2: Buy & install this:

    Bins

I'm not sure it's possible without closing it out completely. What I do, is just leave it on and change the status to offline. There's an advance setting to "Keep Skype in the taskbar while I'm signed in." uncheck it, and it will only appear in the notification section of the taskbar.

  • "Quit Skype" completely closes it and removes it from my taskbar. You sure you didn't pin it? Right click the icon and if it says "Unpin this item" then click that and you're good.

@Health, na - what he means is:

When skype is open/running, not only does it show up in the system tray, it also has that icon in the taskbar.

Only way to get rid of the one in the taskbar is by closing the program completely.

He is wanting to get rid of the taskbar icon, but KEEP the one in the system tray.

    Hope that makes sense. lol

I still say you should just spend the 5 bux and get Bins.

Talk about organization.. lol Bins is tight man.

Yeah, I was mistaking the "Quit" function for quitting completely out of the Skype itself. But, turned out "Quit" doesn't mean that you quit Skype completely. That's a little misleading in terms of their wording.

I don't mind it to have it on the taskbar when I'm using it though. But, some people do prefer not to have it on the taskbar even when they are using Skype. That shouldn't be that hard to do since I remember playing around with it last time and that was the easier thing to do compared to getting Skype out of the taskbar completely even when you are not signed on.
