Interesting Stock Photos

Warriors!

I have noticed that many people use photos that are vastly more interesting and engaging than those which can be found on stock photo sites (such as shutterstock).

Many people are using photos from movies, or of famous people / events. Photos that they could not possibly have the rights for.

Where do they get the rights to these photos? Are they just using them without a license and taking a chance? Under what circumstances can I use photos like they have?

Thanks

Peter

    Stick to stock photos...

Just like you have, I've seen these people who use photos they pull off the internet or photos of celebrities, etc...

    It sets a bad example.

I purchased the rights to a nice photo of Roger Ebert for an article on my site about him today. I bought it at Shutterstock. You can purchase good photos of celebs at shutterstock and various other places for editorial purposes. Advertising, not so much.

Why not consider using your own pictures? Who do you want to take a picture of? Find out where they will be appearing and see what you can achieve. If they are not available, consider other alternatives. When you have the picture, take it to a professional photographic house and ask them to cut the best possible aspect to make an amazing picture that you have the sole rights to use.

    All the best with it.
