My Ebook Cover Advice

Personally, I would pay someone to do it.

You tell them what the book is about, and they come up with something catchy.

I fear if you do it yourself that it will always look a little amateurish...

I agree with Martin. I published a paperback book, and the cover was a tough task. You can get very appealing ebook covers made on the cheap. The person you pay for it may even offer you two choices. Spend your time more wisely on marketing it.

Ok. Here's a source for inspiration. I understand that getting it outsourced is a viable option, but if you are like me, then you want to give it a whirl just to know what the process is like. Hell you may even be good at it after a few tries... but I digress. Go here. It works...Magazines Discounts & Deals | Magazines.com.

Click on the health and fitness category. You will see a bunch of magazine covers with headlines and images that have been tested by huge publishing companies that grabs attention and convinces people to buy those magazines.

I agree with djax3000 as a first port of call. It will give you some great ideas. You can then have it done professionally but with your input and personality. BUT before you do, consider the color scheme and 'flavor' of your website. Use those same colors and 'personality'. This will emphasize your branding.

Head on over to Fiverr there are some pretty talented people that will make you exactly what you are looking for. You can also check the Warriors for Hire section here on WF. Don't try and save $5 if you are not comfortable doing this yourself. You can lose a lot of sales with a bad cover.

You need someone professional with this type of job. Only a few people have good sense of design and they can help you or give you advice how to create a magnet ebook cover. I usually outsource my design from someone in craiglist, but that is another story. I suggest you to try ODesk.com.

I think it would be better if you just outsource it to a graphic designer and take advantage of their ideas and their skill in making an eye-catching, professional looking ebook cover. The cover is part of your package and you'd want to entice as many buyers as possible to take a peek into your ebook.

Well, I create ebook covers on fiverr. I just started offering that service there, I am going to use it as a stepping stone for a full fledged online ebook cover biz. I create pretty sick designs for $5.
