Internet Marketing Dilemma - Tweet Or Not To Tweet

Some IMers claim that Twitter is a major contributor of referrals to their products or sites. Lately I've been hearing it more and more. It almost sounds like a revival of Twitter.

I've got to make a confession. My Twitter account is completely underused. I could say it is "dead".

I don't tweet because, believe it or not, I never got the hang of it.

I would love to hear from other warriors:

  1. Are you using Twitter in your IM efforts?
  2. Is Twitter helping you in driving traffic to your offers/sites
  3. Can you suggest a good and current training to learn how to use Twitter effectively in IM
Your response would be much appreciated

I don't think that Twitter is a very effective tool for traffic. I'd say its usefulness is limited to networking, but that's about it. I'm not the only one who feels that way either, as many of my friends don't use Twitter either and they do amazingly without it.

It depends on the quality and quantity of your twitter followers. If your followers are related to the niche you are targeting, there is more likely to have a high value in using twitter.

Yes, I would imagine that it would depend on the quality of your followers. But how do you build your followers when you start from scratch.

I would really like to try it but I have no idea how to acquire quality followers

I was in the same boat as you and felt twitter was kind of weird, couldn't really build followers like on Facebook and pinterest. I got frustrated one day with it and went to someone's profile in my niche and just started clicking follow on all that users followers, low and behold they all followed me back and I haven't stopped getting new followers to this day since I did that.

You have to target the person that you follow. They must be on the same niche that you are targeting. You can use keywords in the search bar of Twitter. And you can see people on the niche that you can target.

Twitter is a tool for social networking. Use it to network, and it may help you. Use it to spam/tweet commercial messages and you'll likely just be wasting your time.

I personally use it for its intended purpose ... following interesting people and reading interesting news and tweets.

I'm mainly working with marketing kindle books so my experiences may differ slightly from "regular" marketeers.
1: Yes, almost daily. I use one twitter account for every kindle niche i publish in and i'd say it's been paying off.
2: Yes, I find that twitter has helped me a lot in increasing sales for my kindle books.

Personally, I found it too time consuming and unresponsive.
I would put the time and energy into Facebook and blogging.

Twitter is how the world communicates now. It is how businesses connect to their customers.

"Don't get the hang of it" is not an excuse. I have nearly 1 million twitter followers and it does wonders for me.

Twitter is a must for every internet marketer who wants to build a strong network. Also, by having twitter share option in your site, you will make it possible for your visitor to share your awesome post to their friends. So, if you have twitter account, twitter company itself will recommend them to follow your twitter network after sharing your post to their follower.

With a large following you can really generate alot of traffic back to your site. You should consider programs such as Tweet Adder or Tweet Attacks to boost your follower count, and to market to people within your niche market.

Twitter is like having an email list. Too much spam can cause your tweets to be less effective. Always offer something of value in your tweets to captivate your audience.

I got a Twitter Account that is linked on our main website, and i Tweet daily about our product, i also follow everyone who are related on our website's niche. I can say that it really helps on driving traffic on our main website. I also gain popularity when my followers are retweeting my twits.
