What is the purpose of creating a site?

Hey guys,

I DO understand why a personal website will be useful for an already semi-successful marketer, but I'm just a beginner wanting to get my feet of the ground by selling CB products and all I hear people say is "the first thing you need to do is get yourself a site". Why ?

Its not as if I have an already raging fan-base or a huge list. I have nothing, yet.

So could you tell me what content should be on this site, and why it would be useful to the absolute beginner?

Thanks a lot!

Advantage of having a site is that you have absolute control over everything. You can even put an optin form which you can not do in any other free site other than yours. But if you are a beginner then I would suggest to start writing review articles about highly moving products in CB and post them somewhere online like slideshare or ezinearticles ...

For promoting other people's products you don't necessarily need a site.
I guess you would do much better in the beginning if you used youtube for instance or start building a list without a site.

But then again, if you want to do internet marketing in the long run as a full time business, i think you will need a site. Even if doesn't make you a dime in the beginning, you can see it as a long term project.

Web Site is not a must no matter if you are beginner, practitioner or expert. But it is helpful, because you can place all the information you need about your product there, to add pictures, videos, comments, feedbacks (really helpful in making sales), subscription form and so many more.
I would recommend having website when you are beginning as it makes life easier and later on it is up to you if you want to keep it or now. I have my website for people who work with me to refer people to it for information. Also I can do without it well, but those beginners feel better having it handy.

Having a site/blog is to build relationship with
    your buyers.

Obviously, you have not worked on Email
Marketing yet. Having a blog will encourage
    your subscribers/visitors to click..

Lots of marketer didn't realize the power
    Of clicking often.

The ability to make your customers click
On the mouse can easily increase your
    Sales in fold!!

This is a big tip for newbie.

You need to engage your customer..

    From your perspective, it's list-building.

(There are some other, much more minor purposes, too).

It's extremely unlikely that you'll do that successfully without list-building.

It is possible to build a list without having your own site, but I wouldn't recommend it at all. It would be a way of stacking the deck against yourself.

Well, to begin, , how are proposing to sell ClickBank products?

You may make one or two scattered sales from article signatures, etc., but for any real success you need to create a site devoted to the niche of the ClickBank product you hope to sell.

It's all a step by step process. Attract visitors to that site by the perceived knowledge you have on the subject. Enforce that opinion via the content you publish on the site. Offer then a free download in return for their email address, then enforce your reputation in the emails you send them.

Sell to the list, having proved to them that they can trust your experience and recommendations.

In a nutshall, that's exactly why you need a website.

If you were going to sell books on Main Street are you going to look better standing on the corner or standing in your own shop?

      Your site is your property.

It gives a place for your customers to visit and find more information on what they are looking for.

While you could argue that you can also do this on web 2.0 properties, the issue with those is you don't really ever own/control them. It's like renting property and the owner of the property could evict you at any time.

If you own your own site you have a more stable place to direct traffic through.

It gives you the opportunity to collect email addresses - which you can send more offers to in the future.

It also becomes an asset. Something you can sell.

I suppose the question is "Are you looking to just make a few dollars short term or are you interested in building a business?"

If it's just a quick short make a buck or two, then you don't need a site - you can hang on the street corner.

I prefer having your own website / products / services rather then promoting other's stuff. You should be smarter and have other people to promote your stuff.
I would never trust someone to write contents for my website. Only by doing it my self I can make sure all important points are there and it is done to the highest standard.
I tried to hire someone few times in the past and it is just waste of money, because I still had to do it my self at the end.
I hire 4 different people from time to time as they are good in their niche, however only if I do not have time to do that my self, as they don't love my business the way I do so the result will be affected by that any way.

For me. it's having some virtual real estate that 1) I have control over 2) builds value over time 3) Visibility to give accountability.

I'm want to build a business that has a long term future, and whether it's online or offline, visibility - for me - is important in building long term trust.

It depends on what you intend to to to make money.
The site can be useful if you want to promote your products and keep contact with your buyers. If you run it properly, you may actually make good money.
I would read the topics on WF to find out more about sites.

If you don't have a site, where and how do you intend to promote clickbank products? How do you intend to build a list (which is the most successful way to sell CB products and keep selling to the same people over and over)?

The purpose of having a site is to get yourself recognized online and to sell products and make money. Your site represents you and your online business.

It is an excellent way to express yourself and to let others know about what it is that you do online. A site if done right can help you to make money. It can help others to get to know you as an online business owner, plus it can help people to understand your products and services that you have to offer them.

So it is quite necessary to have a site because in having one, people will get to know you and begin to build a lasting relationship with you and so on.

Even a very simplified site such as one that just captures somebody's name and email address is a start in the right direction because you can offer a free e-book or report from that simple site and begin to build not only a following, but build good solid business relationships as well.
