What are you most passionate and knowledgeable about? Start with what you are comfortable marketing with first and then do your research on your competitors.

To the OP - it looks like you are constraining yourself just to IM. Maybe think of niches within other segments of the online economy, such as Healthcare or Dating. "Health, Wealth and Love" will always be the big three.

If you were to pick love, for example, you could do something like "winning back your ex" and go from there.

For popular niches try health, fitness and diet.

Absolutely huge. You can't look at a daily TV listing without seeing at least one news or information program with a health related subject or guest.

I suggest you avoid it like the plague. "Trying that niche" is probably the single commonest reason for people failing. (It isn't even a "niche", anyway).

Ok, you explained what the other $1,450 is for, then. Perhaps. But this is a slightly "strange way round"? You've decided how you want to generate traffic before deciding in which niche you want to build a site? Well, maybe there's nothing wrong with that, either: I look for niches in which I can do my article marketing, I admit. So if PPC is your forte and your skill-set, maybe that's a good approach for you. It's one of which I'd be a little nervous, myself. But we have different skills and knowledge, obviously.

My suggestion for finding a niche: go to a library, bookshop or newsagent and look at all the hundreds of magazines covering subjects on which many people spend money every month. Those magazines cover "markets", not "niches". Look through them, and see the kinds of subjects in each, and how they're connected and/or separated. Those are close to "niches".

And appreciate that "the niches with the most money in them", unless you have special skills/expertise in those areas, are usually the niches in which your chances of making some of that money are typically smaller.

You can see, from that thread, what puts the odds in your favor and what puts them against you, and with only a very little bit of "reading between the lines" you can also see just how and why so many people go wrong and stack the deck against themselves!
