Wordpress .htaccess help needed with permissions

Update: Somebody is going to help me with this. I didn't want to
waste anybody's time, and couldn't figure out how to change the title
of the post.

After changing the permalinks to custom, %postname% if you scroll down it says it has to update the htaccess file, but because it's not writeable it can't do it automatically, then it gives you some code to paste in.

I went into my file manager, found the root directory and the htaccess file does not appear to have been created. I did check the box for it to show hidden files.

Can someone please create this for me so my permalinks will work properly?

I also need the site to be checked to make sure the security permissions are set correctly.

Please PM me and let me know how much you would charge to fix 2 sites.
I need one of them done today.
