I am wondering if there is a website or community where you can post your website and find others who are interested in exchanging links? Now I'm just googling and finding sites in the same niche but it's a slow process. Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

There are plenty... In fact I get loads of e-mails form people trying to get me to do just that.

Personally I don't do it, since it's a little too random, and my reputation is part of whom I recommend.

So my advice to you is concentrate on writing good useful content, and your visitors will build nice backlinks for you automatically, and because that is natural, you will rank better for it. Also you don't run the risk of a slap...

Thanks for the advice. I think I have good content but I'm having a little bit of a hard time getting visitors. Having some decent luck with posting on forums though. Sometimes they take my post off though cause they say it's against the TOS, but other forums are cool about it. Just trying to find some good traffic. Thanks for the advice.

Forums can be a good source - you just have to be helpful with what you're doing, and not be obviously selling something.

We all know that people with signature links are ultimately trying to sell something, but if you give people enough value, they don't usually mind.

So try to help rather than just spamming links up.

Getting traffic is always hard when you first start, as you have to learn techniques, and also become known. Bear with it, it will happen.

millert25. instead of links I have found banner/link exchange network to be slightly better because it does not have any bad effect on rankings and brings targeted visitors. If done correctly it is an awesome win-win situation.I tried a few but found a few problems like no moderation and lack of categories. As such I setup on my own. Right now its a few known people in the network but all are good folks with great sites.

Shameless plug - try my network. it is new but I can help you personally and you can read my blog post here about the details http://bingesite.com/blog/

You can consider to use a SEO software to speed the link exchange process. By it, you can get hundreds or thousands of sites, and send an offer to webmasters for link exchange. You can googling SEO software.
