Cj.com - they really do that?

Hey,

I had a Cj.com account 2-3 months ago. I managed to generate $1,500 per day and they locked my account to review if my traffic sources are legit. My only traffic source were Google's organic results, and I told them. They didin't find my site in the SERPs (lol?!). All my keywords were on #1 position.

I was messaging them every two days to ask if they checked if my site is legit, I even sent them a video recorded on my U.S. based VPS to make sure the search results are correct, 15 days later they locked my account permanently with the reason: I didn't reply in this case for more than 15 days (lol, something is wrong with them).

Here comes the weird thing: They sent me 2 payments since my account is locked, these numbers are the correct numbers of my past commissions that I should receive if my account wouldn't be locked. I was like "WTF, they don't steal my money like other companies after account suspension"? I still have around $7,000 on my locked account, will they pay that too?

I tried to reach them but I never got reply - at least from my account manager and the NC team. I'm about to contact someone else and ask If im able to register a new account and start to work with them again. But this time I'll make sure I won't spend that much time with the project before they review my account lol.

Promptly secure your server logs so you can prove your traffic and referrals were legit.

Per CJ's TOS they have 90 days after an account termination to pay you.

If not, contact me. Their TOS also has an attorney's fees provision (makes attorney's drool when a big pocketed company is involved), so if your commissions were legit you will get paid.

    .

While you are waiting the CJ's response, you look for other affiliate program/ network and move all affiliate links of your site to other affiliate program. If the CJ pay the balance to you, you can back to the CJ.

    $1,500 per day is incredible.

Yes I may do that! I was just pissed off on these affiliate companies so I started to build a few lists and start a web solutions business (not related to my lists, I do paid promotion for that one, but I will make a buyer list for this one too ofc). So I can make sure no one will f*** with me again. I hate unpredictable income, im stressed enough without that LOL!

Yes I would never imagine $1,500 per day when I've started IM. But this is still unpredictable income. Anybody can tell me the opposite, but while a business is depending on organic search traffic (or less then 4-5 traffic sources), it is an unpredictable revenue source!

I find that they do sort things out, but have a strange way of going about it.

I guess to look at it from their point of view, they need to protect their company, rather than necessarily keeping you happy...

Yes of course, they have to protect their reputation but this case was "funny", it was like talking to aliens or something.

What do they mean by 'traffic sources are legit'.
Does it matter where you get your traffic as long as you make sales?

They have and allow numerous top publishers to use adware in the form of toolbars that can have the potential to steal commission from other partners and their Merchants. They also just got done or are almost done with a large legal battle with eBay and an Affiliate that was very public based on legit traffic. You can also find numerous lawsuits against their parent company Valueclick with legit traffic, adware, etc... the ones I know about settled before they actually got to court.

It does if they think you're spamming people to move CJ products.
(Not at all implying that this is the case with the op, just addressing this specific quote.)

In 2-3 months, you manage to generate $1500/day. That's Awesome!

Sad to hear your situation through. If you can do it in CJ, i don't think you would have much problem with other affiliate programs out there.

Have you consider doing CPA? They are pretty similar except that you can generate a commission through leads other than just through sales.

They are no where near the same. With CPA you don't get access to all of the tools that a traditional Affiliate Network would have like datafeeds, widgets, etc... CPA is more like the wild west where you can have your traffic poached a lot easier. Affiliate Networks have their issues with adware, trademark bidders and coupon sites ranking for trademark or url + coupons, but they are much safer in my opinion than CPA.

what's the main reason for banning your account , while on the other side you're promoting them and make money? Just because your earning jumps overnight?

sad to know. i cam across lot of companies do that. But call them and let them know your problem. I prefer calling via phone rather then submitting a ticket.

    Thanks

    Hi typoo999,

I went through this last year. I logged into my account one day and saw this in my email:

Commission Junction Inquiry on Promotional Methods
Commission Junction is currently investigating your account and has the following inquires regarding your promotional methods:

Please explain how you drive traffic to your site and how do you promote CJ advertisers.
Please reply to this inquiry within 5 days of the mailing date.

Over the course of 10 days we exchanged emails of my promotional methods. I actually gave them more information than they asked for. I was using PPC and organic traffic so I sent them screenshots of my site ranked on the Publishers sites and what keywords were typed in by visitors to find my site.

When I answered and proved one promotional method, they then would tell me that they couldn't find my site in organic search and they couldn't find my PPC ads with the keywords that I was bidding on so I had to send screenshots of my rankings with the keywords.

Finally they thanked me for proving my methods and closed the case.

Probably you going from nothing to $1,500 a day set off some alerts and they are just making sure you are following their TOS and the Advertisers TOS.

With your success with organic traffic, you need to create a WSO on how you do it. I'll be the 1st to purchase, or do a review.

I sent them screenshots, recorded a video as well to show them my search engine positions. Idk why did they do this to me, my main goal with this business was making a legit, long-term business - ouch.

I don't think ill make a WSO, at least not in the near future. But thanks for your interest.

What would the WSO be called, "How to drive suspicious traffic and get banned from CJ"?

Great, your traffic was 'organic.' Maybe they had a problem with how you got the traffic in the first place.

You're claiming that all this traffic was sent from a web page that ranked highly in Google?

From their standpoint I can understand the suspicion. That's a huge spike in earnings. In fact it's one that's generally reserved for fantasies rather than they real world.

They don't trust the spike. If you can prove otherwise, then they should be happy to have you.

Either way, good luck and good job with generating that much traffic. If I were you I'd probably skip affiliates and convert it myself. You could probably make much more money that way.

The other possibility is that the buyers came from suspicious IP's - lots of people use stolen credit cards to buy things, if you happen to be getting a commission on that youre a suspect. But either way CJ will work it out.
