Twitter Account Flipping

Hello to all! First time poster, long time lurker, so go easy on me!

Without trying to reveal too much at this point, I've written some Twitter software that automates several processes... Searching the timeline based on keywords and following users, auto-follow-followers, automatic retweets, post article links from RSS feeds, a database of messages that can be twitted at pre-determined or random times, etc. Basically I can setup an account and it runs completely on auto-pilot.

Since I started testing the software last week with two test accounts, I've already grown them to over 1,000 followers. I was originally writing the software to try and market, but with my absolute lack of marketing and driving traffic skills, and the huge influx of "get 30,000 followers overnight!" programs running around, I figure I don't have a chance... Unless I do a joint-venture, which I haven't given too much thought...

It occurred to me today that these niche accounts could be flipped, just like a web site. I spent some time today doing some research, and I can't find anyone "twitter flipping". So the question for you pro's is -- Where would I go to determine if there is a market for this? Are there any general flipping web sites I should check out? I make a few bucks a month from a few blogs I setup during Ed Dale's first 30 day challenge, but I have a feeling between my software, Twitter's current popularity, and serious marketers being able to obtain mass prospects over night, I might actually have a winner here!

I would love to hear your thoughts, and thank you for taking the time to read my post!

Can't say I haven't thought of trying it, but it just isn't my style. I can see it working in the short-term, but once people wise up to the fact that having a huge list doesn't matter if they think you are spammer, then the work will dry up.

Agreed... My idea is to build them up quickly with actual quality content (posts from rss feeds, and the database of pre-written twits) without pushing any products... If I can build up say 2-3k followers in two weeks or so, then hand it off to someone who will actually use it as part of their business, it's a win-win for everyone.

I'm a heavy twitter user, the last thing I want is more people just spamming hundreds of affiliate links over and over. I realize that is and will happen, but what people do with the account once they own it is up to them. I would think that if someone made an investment (which I have given no thought to a pricing model), they would be smart enough to not immediately loose the list in a few days...

Why not sell the software? or give some fellow warriors a trial

I most certainly intend to sell it! To be quite honest and get a little personal, my five year old daughter's birthday is next month, and I need to come up with around $500 to throw her a party. I can't believe what they want for a deposit for one of those jumpy-castles!

Once I am done refining the software, and figure out a method to issue licenses and keep it from being pirated like crazy I'll put more thought in to selling the software outright.

I also intend to get a few people to help me beta test some features, and will probably offer here exclusively!
