Dreamhost $10 for 12 Months Today ONLY!

Because of Earth Day, Dream host are offering hosting for $10 for 12 months for today only. It's nearly the end of the day here in the UK, but of course in the USA you still have time if you want this offer?.

I am not an affiliate, my hosting is with Hostgator, but as this is for new customers it's if you want to save money. It's your call.

If the moderators delete this post, that's okay, but I am only trying to help people who want to save money. Found this in another forum, so I'm just trying to help spread the message.

Maybe they shut down their servers during non-peak hours - you know, to save energy.

I wouldn't go near them with a 10 foot pole.

I don't care they are 10 bucks - I would wind up transferring everything and it would be more trouble than it's worth.

You pay extra for support.

If you are desperate then I won't stop you - but for long term (which is if you are serious) I personally wouldn't do it.

I understand what you're saying. I tried Dreamhost a few years ago and found their database performance to be sluggish & their control panel kind of wonky.

But I signed up anyway cause I thought $10 was a great deal for a domain name with free privacy, hosting (which may not be the best), and a different IP address to put a blog up on.

Not a bad deal in my opinion.

I used them for 2 years until 2007. Downtime was really bad. Like 80% down bad. I found out the hard way from siteuptime.com reports. Also, the MySQL servers are sllloooooowww due to overcrowding.

In this day, I would only use Dreamhost for a few things:

-Raw bandwidth (think video hosting)
-Download hosting (for customers to download large files without disrupting the main site)
-Straight HTML sites. No Wordpress, Joomla, etc.

Anything else, hit Hostgator for Shared, and LiquidWeb for VPS.

Dreamhost are not the best. hundredhosting.co.uk seem to be new to the market, and their prices look pretty good (and I'm not an affiliate!)

Hmm. I'm not sure about the quality of that hosting. I always recommend Hostgator. They simply have the best price, best quantity and best quality
