Thoughts on reward systems to entice users?

We built our website, got a few hundred likes on facebook, and even have 27 verified users with 12 of them posting content.

Last night my partner found a wordpress plugin called cubepoints. You can reward your users with points for doing things like posting content, commenting, or even just logging into the site once a day.

Well that's a fine and dandy, but what do we do with the points. The site is a life hack of the day website. Do we find some products that fit the life hack category and convince them to give us a couple to give away?

    I use a similar plugin called myCred that works great and integrates with Buddypress.

    For your site, I would reward them when they post new content. New content is going to be foundational for your site, so you can basically get it for free. Then, once a person reaches a certain number of credits, maybe they're entered into a drawing for a prize of some kind (like a $100 gift card or something) - This could end up getting you 30-50 free articles for one money prize at the end. Consider it payment for writers.
