Beginner Question (squeeze pages)

Hey guys,
This is probably a simple question, but whatever.

Okay, I'm in the middle of learning how to use wordpress.org.
I'm going to invest in Optimize press which I've heard is a great plugin for wordpress.

What I want to know, is when, and how to promote these squeeze pages.
I mean, do I drive traffic directly to these pages, or do I put a link on a main website and then drive traffic to that.
Or do I promote the squeeze pages through email ? the thing is I haven't got an email list yet, this is why I'm creating the squeeze pages.

    You'll have to drive traffic to your squeeze pages by doing some marketing. To get quality opt-ins, you'll want to market towards your niche.

    A quick and simple example, lets say your niche is selling 'how to play baseball e-books':

    - One way to promote is to join a baseball forum, and add your squeeze page link to your sig.

    - Another way you could promote is reach out to a bunch of baseball blogs, and partner with them for a giveaway, giving away your e-book. To get your e-book, they would drive the readers through your squeeze page.

    ...there are millions of ways to get traffic to squeeze pages, I think you'll find plenty of info on this forum

      Send traffic directly to your squeeze page. Once they've put in their email address you can then direct them to your main site or sales page.

      Then they will be on your list to keep in regular contact and build a relationship if they don't buy first time.

      Massarogi has given some good ways to drive traffic. You can also use pay per click ads if you have a bit of money to invest.

    And, depending upon your niche you can offer something exclusive to a large community - Facebook page for example. If your niche lends itself to pictures don't forget about putting together pictures that speak to your customer and lead back to your squeeze page(s). You can use the same autoresponder list on several different pages - especially if you are uploading cool pics to Pinterest.

    Build a presence in social media - like Facebook, Pinterest and Twitter. You don't need your own FB page - but be a consistent presence and contributor on others.

    Sigs in the forum. Paid solo ads. Partner with a slightly larger fish to offer a great free download and put the larger fishes affiliate link for your product in the free download. Have a blog? Make videos about your blog and podcasts of your articles. Be sure to use keywords that have traffic overall but maybe not so optimized in your distribution (YouTube, Vimeo).

    There is a little more to it than simply joining a forum and having a link to your squeeze page in your signature. You have to become a valuable member of the forum by adding useful information to the post threads. Doing it every day can get you noticed.

    Another method is to visit other blogs in your niche and make useful comments. Look for blogs that get a lot of comments and be one of the first to comment. Others may see your comment and click on your name which should be linked to your squeeze page by entering the URL in the field when you leave your comment.

    Buing solo ads is the quickest way to get your list to 400 - 500 and then you could do ad swaps.

    Sandy is right - and sometimes the whole conversation goes on in my head! Become involved in whatever community you are using- Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Blog commenting, forums. It is never a good idea to 'market' anywhere - unless you are using paid advertising and the reader is expecting paid advertising!

    Otherwise it is always best to add value to where ever you are. You can do that online and offline.

    If you are using blog commenting and want to be among the first - CommentSniper is no longer available but FeedReader performs the same way on your desktop - will let you know when a blogger you are following has posted an article.

    Always send the directly to the offer. The less clicks they have to make, the higher the conversion will be.

    Here is how you promote it when you first start building your list. Solo ads.
    They are the most cost effective way and easiest way to start getting leads.

    Also, these are mainly for Make Money Online and Internet Marketing niches.

    I started the exact same way you did, with optimize press. One squeeze page. Solo ads. Now I have a list of almost 300.

    Indeed ... that's why you're creating a squeeze page, to get people's email addresses so that you can send them your autoresponder email series.

    You wouldn't normally promote the squeeze page in the emails. The people who receive the emails have already opted in on the squeeze page.

    A squeeze page is one way (not the only way, and not always the best way, either) of collecting the email addresses which accumulate into the "list".

    (The suggestions in Daniel's kind post just above aren't actually relevant to you at all, Luke: as he explains, they're mostly for IM/MMO markets. From my own understanding of your plans, I don't immediately see why you'd need or want a squeeze page. Nor do I immediately understand why you'd want to use OptimizePress, to be honest - but there may be some perfectly good reason for that, which I just haven't appreciated from your earlier comments ).

    They are the most cost effective way and easiest way to start getting leads.
    Thing is most solo ads have become over priced and the quality is poor (especially when using solo ad providers and list swapping exchanges) so most newbies are going to struggle to make that money back. They'll build a big unresponsive list full of freebie seekers on hundreds of other lists who never buy anything.
