Welcome to the world of spam on the internet

There is not much you can do about it except perhaps have a captcha form on there and set your comments to manual approval.

These idiots probably get paid per comment/contact and so try to do as many as possible in the shortest amount of time or it is bots. Not sure how those bots work though.

These are just Bots trying to post a backlink on your site. You can add a Captcha to your contract form and this will reduce the number of spam you get

If your have a wordpress i would suggest using
Contact Form 7 + Really simple captcha

I was facing same problem. Everyday I was receiving 20+ crap emails. I just added a captcha system to get ride of this.

I hate getting this test / bot rubbish but hate recaptcha more - I know very few people who like it - is there nothing else that can be done?

This page describes a method for stopping form spam without a captcha:

PHP Form Spam Prevention

Two steps:

1. Adding JavaScript to your form so a value changes for human visitors, and

2. Adding a check in your php to see if the value changed.

In my use I found the code for step #2 did not work to stop spam. However, when I changed:

if( (count($_POST) > 0) and (! isset($_POST["_a2a2a_"])) and $_POST["_a2a2a_"] != "4" ) { exit; }

to this:

if ($_POST["_a2a2a_"] != "4" ) {
exit;
}

else $placeholder ="";

That has stopped spam 100%.

  If you're using Wordpress, you can easily stop spam with some math captcha. From personal experience, math captcha is most effective right now. Image captcha can be broken now. Here is a tutorial that may help:

Best way you can avoid the bots spam is to add captcha on the form, put something that only a human can do, but is impossible for the bots.

Definitely bots. If only we could do away with spam completely and for good, how much better would the internet be? Actually that would probably be considered censorship wouldn't it?
