Newbie to the marketing business.

Hey there guys,

Let me be strait here. I'm new to the whole Internet marketing bit. I'm really just in the learning, researching, and planning stages of structuring an online marketing business. I don't expect this to be an easy task by any means. I'm looking to build a business that will give me the option to be at home more, supplement my current income or maybe even replace it one day. Currently I'm a business consultant in the corporate world. This career path requires a great deal of travel which takes away time from my kids and personal life. I feel in today's times this business segment will be able to provide for my family and give me the time I desire with my boys.

So with all that said, the reason for my post was to pick your guy's minds. Your thoughts, direction, and advice on the do's and don'ts. Obviously I want to make money. I'm not looking to spending it on the wrong things and not get a. Good ROI. So any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Charlie

Well first I would like to say Welcome.
It seems like you have the right motivation and mindset knowing that its not just an easy task and it will take effort on your part.
Without knowing what direction your taking best advice I could give you is figure out what area you want to market in and go with it.
My biggest mistake I made by far was trying to be involved in every niche possible, and getting involved in the next big thing.
By you writing this post it shows your already comfortable asking others for advice. There are a lot of good warriors who remember they started where you are now and will gladly help you and give you advice.
I wish you good luck and success

      Hi

I recommend finding a a niche subject that you're interested in. That way you will enjoy running your business more and the chances of success will be much greater.

I would also try and find a good proven system to follow as you will find getting to where you want to be much quicker.

If you try and work it all out by yourself it can be very time consuming and you may find yourself making many mistakes which could've been avoided if you had a system to help you along the way.

Well done for joining this forum as you will find a lot of help here.

The Warrior Forum can be the source of lots of great info and some amazing people. It is also full of marketers and what they are good at is selling your stuff, so my first bit of advice is read as much as you can, find an area that interests you and learn as much as you can about that area, if you are going to buy a course, check all the feedback on the seller you can find, on the Warrior Forum and by searching on Google.

Make sure that you get out of the theoretical stage as soon as you can and start implementing,

You will fail, failing is good as long as you are learning from it and it isn't dramatically impacting your bank account.

Build a business, ignore anything that mentions 'loophole'!!

Getting a coach at some point in my opinion is a must but not in the beginning though, you can learn most of the basics yourself but the right coach or mentor at some stage in your journey will amplify your results.

You should go for what you're passionate about first and foremost Rod Cortez wrote a wonderful thread where he stated 56 lessons he learned over 14 years. It's well worth the read!
I wish you the best of luck, if there's anything i can aid you with feel free to PM me. I am still a beginner here aswell but it always helps to speak your mind to someone.

    Hello Charlie,

Welcome to the Warrior Forum - you'll find a lot of great information here!

I agree with the others on finding a niche that you like; while you can do well in any niche if you put in the market research and effort, it's easier if you find a niche that you like (i.e. have interest in) and know there is a need there that you can fulfill.

Additionally, I agree that you want to have a good plan going forward, but also that you take ACTION. Many Warriors and others say that, and it's true. If you continue thinking and diving into information, you can be bogged down by information overload and "paralysis by analysis."

The best way is to formulate a plan and move forward with it. Virtually no one succeeds without failing, so don't be afraid to fail, and then adapt based on those "mistakes." As noted and respected Internet marketer David Vallieres says, "Fail Faster - you'll reach success faster that way by getting the mistakes out of the way so you know the path to success." (This is presuming, of course, that you don't make the same mistakes again).

Hope this helps - again, welcome to the Warrior Forum. I wish you "good luck," and continue asking questions. Remember, "the only dumb question is the one not asked."

    Take care,

    Welcome,
There are many roads you can take. It is all about having an offer and exposing that offer to a target market.
Firstly you much choose your niche. Choose something that you are passionate about. Once you have done this you can build a website about it and try to blog daily. Then you can monetise the website with some affiliate offers and get it ranked well in google SERPs.
You can even skip the organic SEO and jump straight into paid traffic like solo ads, PPC marketing and media buying. This is traffic on demand! On that website, have a squeeze page to people can join your mailing list and you can establish rapport with them and lose less money in CPC.

    Hope this gives you ideas,

The main advice I would give is to pick one thing and stick with it.

There are so many ways to make money online it's all too easy to get shiny object syndrome and lose focus.

Set goals, stay focused, and always be testing.

This doesn't have to be much complicated. What is really important is to select a niche market that you have interest in and which has profit potential ie. there are products to sell and consumers to buy them.

Once that part is done, you can create a website and build a list of subscribers. You can then start building good relationship with your subscribers and promote affiliate offers to them which solves their problems.

Next, focus on getting targeted visitors to your website. This step will take some time and work on your part if you try free ways. In case you want to invest some money to get traffic, you should keep track of your investment and results.
