What extra things can you suggest for my site?

Hello Everyone,

I run a PR3 blog site. I want to do something extra to get more visitors that can be easily converted. I am planning to start some entertainment section on my site for my visitors so that visitors stay on my site for longer and also visit my site more frequently.

I think I can allow playing some games such as Chess. What extra things do you suggest and what is the easy process of integrating such things to my site such as pluings or scripts?

I am open to your feedback and ideas.

Thank You

    Quick thoughts ...
    • It seems hugely untargeted - there's a list of about 70(?) different, unrelated "categories": it isn't easy to know exactly what demographics you're targeting - in fact, it isn't easy to imagine that you, yourself, have a clear picture of that?
    • You have no opt-in on your landing-page, so you're not actually doing anything to retain your visitors? What you're asking is a little like trying to fill the tub by adjusting the taps, but without putting a plug in the hole at the bottom?
    • The design of the landing page is very unusual - it's very wide, but with the exception of one post at the top, the big, central panel is entirely empty? Have never quite seen a page like this ...

In the entertainment section, share some funny and entertaining videos. It will bring many visitors. For more funny videos, you can use YouTube and Yahoo videos. I prefer yahoo videos because all latest entertaining videos could be found on their homepage and in YouTube you have to search for them.

I think your tagline is the reason for your problem. When you make a 'blog for everyone', you're really making a blog for nobody. You ideally want to write posts for a small group of dedicated followers rather than larger group of untargeted people.

The other way you could do it, which would require a lot more effort, would be to silo all your different groups of people and sell to each individually. I'm not sure how successful that would be though.

If you want visitors to convert more easily, make your blog for someone (yourself?), and your visitors will be people like you, and will be interested in what you have to say/sell.
