    That's odd...
I usually register through GoDaddy, and they're still $2.99 as of this writing.

Where did you get that price from? Where do you register domains, I use godaddy and they've got them for $2.99. I definetly wouldn't pay $9.89 for a .info domain name.

It's just possible that NameCheap doesn't offer a discount. If you don't mind GoDaddy, the previous two posters are dead on correct... it's typically $3.

It's true, I've checked a few domains at namecheap after reading this thread and the .info extensions are now at $9.89 which is very odd. They usually costs about $3-$4 per .info extension.

But I think this is happening at namecheap right now because they're promoting their new TLD which is the ".pw" extension.

You can see that they're advertising it in the upper right corner of their homepage.

      Yes I was using namecheap.

I like it there and prefer it over GoDaddy but maybe swayed to go back to Godaddy considering this recent price range.

The .pw extension is kinda weird

It's just the (newly-launched) ccTLD for Palau.

(They're presumably hoping to "make something of it" like Tuvalu did for .tv, Montenegro did for .me, and so on - but it's not quite so easy to see that "professional web" - which is how they're trying to market them - is as attractive/appealing/relevant to people).

Namecheap prices for .info domains have recently gone up from about $3 to about $10. :p
