Google has just announced they are retiring their affiliate network to focus on other products.

I have been earning revenue via Google Affiliate Network for years, now it is time to move on.

After Google Reader, another great service from Google is gone. What is your opinion?

Thank you for that. I have been wondering about it, and it was getting to be more of a pain to work with, so maybe it isn't going to be a big loss.

It always was rather clumsy compared to some of the better Google programs, but it did have some good points too.

Never rely on anything that has the Google name on it. You can't count on it being around. If you do want to use a Google product, make sure you have a backup plan in place from day one.

Just my thoughts on Google products in general.

Commissions were way too small. I left them behind two years ago. Apparently so did everyone else.

  It's about time. Google had too many conflicts to be running an affiliate network. I believe the network was included in the purchase of a company Google wanted primarily for another product - so no real loss to Google.

Received an email from CJ.com about the big G's affiliate network closing down today. It included a list of 199 Google Affiliate Network accounts that are also on CJ.
