Good day, I have a website that I launched a few weeks ago. Firstly I played with wordpress, but eventually I decided to just build the site with standard .html Anyway the site is now live, but Google has not updated the listing and Google has also not updated the website description. I have tried to use Webmaster Tools, but I am getting a error. I have verified the site and added the sitemap, but Webmaster Tools is giving me this error: Network unreachable: robots.txt unreachable We were unable to crawl your Sitemap because we found a robots.txt file at the root of your site but were unable to download it. Please ensure that it is accessible or remove it completely. I have looked for a robots.txt file and I cannot see one, what could the problem be? Please help me |

Sorry I don't know about the robots.txt... When I build html sites I go to xml-sitemaps(dot)com and make an .xml and .html sitemap and submit to google. The fastest way I get sites indexed is by submitting a page or post to digg Good luck |

Hi, Are you sure it is still there? Is it in the right directory? |

First go here Create your Google Sitemap Online - XML Sitemaps Generator and create a site map if you have not already. Here is a typical robots.text file User-agent: * Disallow: /cgi-bin/ Disallow: /scripts/ Disallow: /images/ Blocking SE for accessing those folders listed. The robots.txt file should not be in a folder, or any where else unless in a subdomain, it should in the root of your site where your index.html, index. htm, or index.php files reside. That's it that's all you need to do, you will need to resubmit you site map file to Google webmasters tools. If I were you I would dump that plain boring HTML site and upload Joomla, much better, and it comes with a site map plugin. |
