What is the best way to sell an ebook?

Hi,

I have a few print books I wrote years ago that I would like to turn into ebooks. I am going to distribute through Amazon, Google Play, and iTunes.

In addition, I plan on selling these ebooks on my own site, but this is where I am struggling. Should I create a PDF for each ebook, and when someone orders, give them a link to download the PDF? Should I create a password protected area, and create the ebooks as normal HTML pages?? Or maybe keep them as PDFs, but make the user login to see the PDF??

I am sure there are pros and cons to any decision.

    The most common way to deliver an eBook after purchase is to give the customer a download link. This is also the simplest solution. Keep in mind that an eBook is just one of many product formats that your content can be delivered as. Consider recording audio versions as well. This will increase your revenue by having an additional product format available. Depending on the nature of your content, you could then also set up a membership site in order to allow your customers access to new information on monthly basis.

    I think people want the physical eBook, I would be annoyed if I had to log in to read HTML.

    You can either just supply a download link, or you can have a membership site which has a download area for your eBook, if there is a reason to do so, such as upsells, other tutorials that require getting access to the members area.

    I think amazon is still the best way to distribute ebooks. and If your ebook relates to IM, I think WSO is also a good place for them.
    Also affiliate marketers can be a very good partner to have. =)
