Look at the source code, there are usually some typical pieces of code in the header. For example, a WP site will usually load things from a folder named wp-content. A Joomla website will most likely load things from /components/ and /modules/. Etc.
Some will even have a meta tag indication what they're running one.

Do you use Facebook ? Then you can make money just by inviting people to a Facebook group ! It's called the Instant Income System. How cool is that?

Check out builtwith.com it lists all the technology a site is using including the CMS.

I usually check the template location

    /sites/all/themes/ (drupal)
    templates/nameoftemplate/css/style.css ( Joomla)
    wp-content/themes (WordPress)

Have you tried looking in the footer of the website? that's where the copyright info would be.

right click on page and look at "source code". It will look like gobbly gook, but near the top there is what the site is made of
BTW its amazing to see seasoned marketeres are still leaving the themes default "keywords" as default and not taking advantage of what the search engine spiders see

Near the top of the source code there is where the spiders find the keywords to tell them what the site is about. By default it could even be blank, so it needs to have your keywords in that spot in the source code.

With wordpress "All In One SEO" (free) plugin does this. Not sure about Joomla

was just going to suggest this.

Or look in the souirce code for paths to JS files and CSS files etc.

You can in joomla normally add something like /index.php?com_content&articleid=1 (that might not be totally correct at the end. cant recall the correct syntax.) and it will load an article

Or another way to confirm joomla is to add a &tp=1 onto the end and see if this shows the template layout grid.

    Hello Awledd,

To know if a website is a wordpress, joomla or another you can check the by right click and look the view source. Once you saw a code referring a wp-content/themes
it means its wordpress for joomla meta name=""generator" content=Joomla - Open Source Content Management

    Here is a video http://youtu.be/lCJ2NczAxJ8

    I hope this helps.

    Regards,

I just installed Joomla for the first time ever and I just couldn't install new theme. I followed everything a video says. Then error message. Lost patience and am reverting back to WP.

error message "Error! Could not find a Joomla! XML setup file in the package."

I tried 3 different themes from different sources and the result is the same error.

I put the path of the admin panel.

      In joomla it is /administrator
      In wp it is /wp-admin

what version of joomla are you using?

did you download the template alone, or full packages?

ahh.. you reverted.. ok, no worries...

In the top right corner it says Version 1.5.23 but I have no idea what version the themes I tried are. Is there any theme search box inside the backoffice? So I may install themes automatically just like in WP?
