In search results, what does blue vs. black mean?

When I do a google search, at the top right, for example, I see..

"Results 1 - 1 of 1 for "driving to sunny florida".

Some of those keywords are in blue, some are in black. What is the significance of those colors? The same is true with or without quotes. In this example, only the word "to" is in black, but sometimes it is a larger word.

Google highlights the keyword phrase you were searching on in the search results for you.

update: ah, you're talking about the stop words. Google "google stop words" and read up on it.

So if my keyword search consists of 3 words, and only 2 of them are in blue, that means noone else is optimizing for the full 3 word long tail phrase?

Sorry, I updated my post, so maybe we're crossing posts here... I'm not sure I can answer that question... maybe someone else can.

Okay, I'm learning about stop words now. If a word is misspelled, would it be considered a stop word and show up in black?
