How to Block some Referring Sites

I see that I have several porn related URLs listed high up on my Awstats data for Referring Sites.

Q1. How can I block these unwanted URLs?

Q2. Do I need to worry about them?

My webmaster tools referring sites don't list them in my Referring sites, but are they damaging my blog (reputation with Google) anyway?

Q3. Why are they visiting me???

That is the best thing you can do. There is no real need to block the actual visitors, even if they come from a p0rn site. Disavow would make sure that search engines do not penalize you and enjoy the free traffic you are getting.

I've seen suggestions to redirect them to Google, I think that's a bad idea, you never know when Google will decide to penalize you for, and I wouldn't take the chance.

Probably the best place to send them is back to their own IP.

or you could pick somewhere on this list Malware Domain List

Thanks for replies, and I checked out the Comprehensive Guide link - thanks.

I have since seen that a Polish 'Fast Credit' company has 16 backlinks to my site - (probably dofollow) in Open Site Explorer but I don't know how, or why, or where!

Do I need to do something about these guys too? How serious is this - and is it damaging my site?

I have the same sort of thing showing in my AWSTATS, and have been wondering about those same questions too.

Looking forward to some answers ;-)

Not sure if this will help but I blocked all traffic from RU and China. Also as far as I know if you have backlinks from on sites you don't know about there is a good possibility that you have pages on you site that belongs to them which they are using for there benefit. I suggest you check out all files on you server. If you using WP check under the "uploads" directory" and remove anything that is not from you. Also check plugin and themes folders. If you using a free theme check you code as a lot of free themes have hidden script in them (the ones from WP is normally ok)

As for blocking RU and China traffic I did it on my server and not sure how you do it on shared hosting.

    Hope this help
    Johan

PS. When done I would use digilink doctor as all pages indexed because of them you can then just redirect to front page
