Using Press Releases, techniques that work

Hi, I am interested in using press releases for traffic generation purposes.
For those experienced with the inner workings of the internet this is my plan that I hope to get opinions on.
In my head lines I was going to make sure to include some "hot" names as opposed to just putting my title about my stuff.
For example, an ordinary title about my stuff:
"New device simplifies house cleaning"

Now and example of the same headline with my added power words:
"New device out cleans those sold on Amazon and Ebay"
(note I added amazon and ebay);
another example:
"New device cleans as well as Kirby vacuum sold on Ebay"

My question is this. Will using those words help my pr get picked up and ultimately give it more hits to my site? thanks
John

You can try but I don't think it would be appropriate to your Amazon and eBay name. Make sure you have the proof to support your claim.

Here is one trick. Research "hot news" in your niche market and use those keywords to get picked up.

Yes, that is a good idea too, and it was actually another way I was thinking of using the PR headline. Because what's hot tends to trend and so maybe the search engines will be more likely to pick up the trending topics also.
I may do some testing on these ideas just to see
        thanks

That was just an example, I wasn't suggesting to use Amazon and Ebay in that fake ad.

Obviously that headline would have to well written and factual.
If I was to use Amazon and Ebay, then it would be an ad like this:
"New Auction site has more unique products than Amazon and Ebay"

It's the concept of using bigger names in your headline in order to get more hits that I was inquiring about, and the question was like : Does that concept have SEO merit?

    Just write naturally.

Forget about trying to "game" the system by stuffing keywords in your PR titles.

Write for humans, they have credit cards.

It would depend on how many submissions you do and the quality of the work done.

You want the release to be neutral and not a hard sales letter, only slightly push the reader towards buying the service / product by placing your anchor links in good positions

    Good luck

I'd be careful about the package you buy for a press release. I tried a distribution system here, they did as promised but I got ZERO traffic out of what I really thought would be a high profile story. Make sure you have some REALLY HOT news and that your press release goes out to at least PRWeb... not just to outer space like mine did.
